Simple answer to this Glen Hoddle feeling his way back into hands on coaching at QPR, if the unthinkable happened and Adkins left, the Hoddle would be the perfect fit.

Others who would be considered:-

Phil Parkinson
Alan Curbushley
David Moyes

Voted for "other" - Hoddle. Other decent shouts would be Dolan, Hughton, McD.

NO way can I see Moyes coming to the championship.

I have always thought that Brian shouldn't have been let go. He is still my first choice. I don't however believe that he would break his new contract with The Gunners. He is a throwback, where his word means something....sorry, just realized that Sandman corrected an earlier post, in that Brian's contract is only for six months........there could be a chance of getting him....

Alan Pardew could be available on a free quite soon.

Other posters have commented that the Southampton side that won back to back promotions was assembled by Pardew, not Adkins.

Plus, he might feel he owe's us one and has something to prove.

... or not.....................

marcusopp
under the tin Mike Read is going to be available soon.

:D I'd rather Lou Reed!
Dolan, Parky, McD, Gunnarsson would all do for me.
Is Dylan Kerr into management now? I thought he'd be on his third liver transplant by now! He had the look of a proper boozer about him, a great laugh!!

Dylan won some big cup tournament with the team he managed in Vietnam. But he's left there and is back home. I thought he maybe had a job in the lower leagues lined up, but nothing's happened yet. He's been to one or two Reading games, but he's also been to Leeds and Kilmarnock, so just going to see his old clubs I think.

He wouldn't be ready for a Championship club yet I don't reckon. But would love an ex player as a manager though.

Steve Clarke did a great job at West Brom, he has a lot of contacts in football and utilised the loan market well. This is what we need to do to strengthen, rather than paying over inflated January prices

No point getting anyone else in other than Dolan, considering how unforgiving we are to 'outsiders'. At least one of our own might be able to go through a financial crisis, ownership crisis and injury crisis simultaneously while flirting off & on with play-off places but losing a few games before the fickle fanbase turn up at his door in pointy hats and a large burning cross.

At least if we get a new manager, people might stop comparing EVERYTHING he does (positively or negatively) to Brian McDermott.

Er, no. 'Brian McDermott' is no longer a man. 'Brian McDermott' is now little more than two abstract words which most frequently appear in the bawling, boring, wet-eyed posts of twats.

Don't think fan attitudes towards Adkins can be described as 'fickle'.

Some of us have never liked the bloke, whilst others will make excuses for him until the end of time.
It would be incorrect to say that everyone loves him when he wins and hates him when he loses.

I think we are in desperate need of the return of McCleary and Williams , the young lads are learning but it takes time.

I have faith in Adkins and believe he can turn it round, but if we were to see a change, I was thinking the other day I would love to have Steve Clarke, a clever guy with a lot of experience and IMO was harshly sacked by WBA.

If not him then surely Chris Hughton, who has a proven record at this level, (albeit with a better team than ours). The same actually goes for Adkins, which makes you wonder what the problem really is? Maybe the players just still are not up to it.

Anyway, would Clarke or Hughton want to come to Reading? Sadly I think we know the answer.
