I wouldn't say it's a coincidence that we sign a permanent player and someone on loan shortly before this was confirmed by the official site. Very much doubt there is a lot left in the pot taking into account FFP

What a great day for the club!

I would put him at number two in the worst Reading players ever list. Although he was utter shit for practically every minute he spent on the pitch for us, he never set up too many goals for the opposition.

His wages would certainly be better invested elsewhere but no suggestion we can't afford them. I don't think it's fair to blame Pog for the excessive wages we agreed to pay him, I would do exactly the same thing in his shoes. Given his age and having a family to look after I can well understand why he wouldn't be desperate to go elsewhere for less money just to play out his career.

There's a reason we nearly went into Administration, couldn't sign anyone last January and are limited on the business we can do now. It's because we made a £7.5m loss last season and high wages, for which Pog is probably the worst example, is the cause.

No, it's not his fault we offered him stupid money. It is his fault he's saying oxf*rd you, I'm happy to make you keep paying me it when I'm not playing, not wanted and could be looking to find a move to actually do my job and play some football.

He plays!!! What is wrong with you???

When he is fit, he plays, he tries,

I must have imagined those games at the start of the season where he sat on the bench watching Murray out perform him.

I rely on the undoubted ITK-ness and great wisdom of HobNob, here...

What were Drenthe's wages/appearance money?

Does anyone have a genuine idea?

No one knows.

But, came from Russia, big name signing, ex--Madrid = blatant vanity signing by Anton.
Being frozen out, loaned out and shifted asap = high wages. Saying that, my guess would be that he was on about £20k / week. Adkins said he could get two good players for Drenthes wages so that would fit.

Should have been given another chance here.Played well at Wednesday by all accounts

I don't think Clarke was even given the option of keeping Royston

He must have been a 65th minute substitute, because he appeared to be running before he hit that.

Would love to find out what "the thing" was. He alluded to it a couple of times, and clearly something more than him being a lazy cnut happened.

He was massively bad value for money. Adkins may have gone, but the players and several coaches are still here and there was clearly an issue behind the scenes on top of his poor performance. We've got plenty of wingers and by shifting him we could drop the wages and bring in someone Clarke actually wanted.
