20 mins on the pitch and broken already? Reading FC true to form then. Presumably that rules him out for a week or two anyway, before he reappears with one of those darth vadar masks on, by which time his match fitness will be even further reduced, Shirley?

All week Radio Berks has been saying he's available Saturday.

arthurfondrelli Had one nice turn and sight of goal, then messed up the shot.

From memory he set up Williams for what was our best chance of that game, and would have made it 1-1.

Harsh to judge a player on 15mins of playing

+1

Not harsh given his complete lack of mobility. We were told he was fully fit and raring to go, which on the basis of last night was clearly a lie.

When you sign a player on a short term deal in the January window, surely you need that player to be able to hit the ground running? Otherwise the season is as good as over before he can make any real impact.

We are told it's a no risk signing yet we are also told we have to watch what we are spending. So is he playing for free. Did he waive any signing on fee? I very much doubt it. I hope he proves me wrong but he very much looks to be another crap bit of January transfer business.

Well that goal vs Derby has just earned the club £180k for today's win plus £90k at least as losing quarter finalists plus a share of gate receipts and some TV money. I guess that has paid his wages for this season!

Whatever he does now is a bonus, that single goal earned us a quarter final game bringing in hundreds of thousands for the club. Also it was prem quality finish that showed amazing control and accuracy. I'm happy with that !, but look forward to more :D

It won't have paid off his agent yet, and we lost the chance for some replay TV money as well.

I really liked the way his first touch opened up the angles to shot so well. That's experience for you. The nutmeg and fk win was also a delight, as was a through ball he put in. But Jezie Chrimbo he looks unfit and slow.

Well I'm pleased that it is so soon after Tuesday that I am having to say that it appears that I was wrong about Yakubu and that, even approaching 40, he can still do a good job at Championship level!

Let's hope the Saturday version keeps turning up and that the Tuesday display was very much a one off.

Good to see RB retracting his earlier rant, although not sure why the red herring of age conspiracy theory needed to be brought in.

Yak did nothing wrong on Tuesday, indeed coming back on the pitch with a broken nose showed a commendable commitment.

Against Derby he did what he has always done and put the ball in the back of the net. It wasn't a tap in, and we've not had a player who could finish like that for too long.

Looks like he may be an inspired signing, long may he prove the negative types wrong !!

While I appreciate there is some questions about his age, if the club say he's 32, then I'll believe he's 32.

LOL @ anyone who said Yakubu was a joke signing. He's pretty much already been worth it thanks to that goal and has already proven he is better than anything we already had.

The Yak is a class act who clearly has talent and is a natural proven goalscorer and has shown that over the years, and only needed once chance to prove it to us on Saturday. Unlike Pog who is supposedly a class player but has proven nothing, not just here but thoughout his career.
