Have you taken to Steve Clarke yet?

For me, i've not quite taken to him....he just seems a little bit too defensive when being interview either by BBCRB or the Club (on their youtube channel etc)

Performance? Way too soon to judge.

The person? Liked him before he joined.

How could anyone who ever listened to Nigel Adkins not like Steve Clarke?

I think he's improved the group defensively and it was excellent to see such a good fast counter attack goal against Sheffield Wednesday.

To be honest I never really liked Adkins.

sandman How could anyone who ever listened to Nigel Adkins not like Steve Clarke?

That's not really how liking someone works for normal people.

In due respect though to Adkins he helped us develop the academy and made Reading a good club for young players to come to.

I think it's good that the youngsters are going out on loan now and getting some exposure to competitive games, hopefully they'll be competing for a place in the first team next season like Hector after he did well at Aberdeen or wherever he played in Scotland.

Never having met either Adkins or Clarke, or heard them interviewed, it's hard to judge them as people.
As a manager Clarke is doing OK. What he's done has not been spectacular or transformational, but little by little he's improving us. He needs to get us winning regularly, and heading up the table, before I start considering him successful, but he's on the right lines.

With restructuring after coming out of the Premier league it's a tricky time to take a club on, but with a lot of players contracts expiring it will allow him to really put his mark on the squad in the summer.

I have no idea what there names are but we signed a number of promising academy players who saw the club as a good opportunity to be able to get into the first team eventually.

I kind of get the feeling he thinks we're a bit beneath him, and that we're a bit of a stop-gap until he can get a "proper" job in the Premier League. It may be unfair of me, and I wouldn't want him to come in and start talking bollocks about how he's always wanted to manage Reading and kiss the badge. But I would like to hear more about his longer term plans, a bit of vision, some feeling that he's buying into the history and culture of the club. Only then will I start to feel he's really one of ours....

Mind you, if he gets us playing good football and winning on a regular basis I may overlook all I've just put.

Doing OK so far - he's already had problems with Dellor (like both Adkins and Brian did) but I wouldn't hold that against anyone.

Clarke behaved in a petulant manner after questioned as to why he dropped our best player:
Reading FC boss Steve Clarke: I don't have to explain every decision I make

Textbook error. Certainly went down in my estimation.
