No Wingers?

by paddy20 » 16 Jul 2015 09:17

With there high interest in Macleery at the moment and if Kanu goes to Swansea we will basically left with no wingers! It seems likely that both will go and our only back up are Fosu & the new youngster from Portugal. Surely our priority must be at least one established and quality winger

They're not even gone yet, give Clarke a chance before jumping into panic mode. I think he's earned that so far this window.

winners > wingers

Did Steve Clarke use wingers at West Brom? (I don't know the answer).

Obita can play as a winger, so too can Blackman. Hopefully McCleary will stay though but I don''t think we will ever get the best out of HRK so maybe it is time to let him go and then think about signing a replacement.

No it doesn't. This is up there with 'we now look to have lost Al Habsi'.

This ^

I'm sure he's got replacements in mind for every position on the field but will only follow up on them if he needs to. At the moment, he doesn't need to

Basically left with no wingers? No Fosu or Semedo, no Obita (if a LB comes in he can push up again), no Blackman, no Stacey.

You can be sure we'd bring in a replacement for GMac, but to say we're short of wingers is a bit off. Even quality wise it's not bad.

He can, but we appear to have lost him.

Brilliant stuff.

We haven't lost them yet and, as this window under Clarke already shows, we seem pretty capable of bringing decent players in when we need to.

I wouldn't worry if they go, I certainly wouldn't worry when they haven't!

Usual over optimistic stuff. Possibly Fosu will make a breakthrough this season. We all know how well Blackman and Obita perform on the wing.I would say its almost certain Macleery will go and we all know what Kanu's record is like. Just saying this will be a weakness unless we resolve it. I'm not saying Clarke won't just that this looks like it will be a priority.

If Paddy says it's almost certain then we may as well just accept it....
I wonder if the club will spot that it might leave a gap. Imagine us getting to Birmingham and Clarke looking round the dressing room and going '*#%¥ , we've forgotten a right winger'
I think it's a very outside chance we'd sell him, and if we did we'd be asking stupidly high money. £5-6 million ?
And we'd know who his replacement was before he left.

I want to know why you would say this? Its a poor wind up attempt if it is one. And if you are being serious, I really want to know your thought process behind this.

Polished performances for Jamaica, he is our best player, lower premiership clubs are looking at him,we need the money, he's a high earner, we won't stand in his way, he's premiership quality and he will want to play in the premiership again.
