Player of the season?

by TBM » 28 Apr 2016 22:20

Anyone know the top 3 nominations or is it a case of waiting until Saturday?

Never, in my 16 years of following Reading, has the player of the season vote seemed less important.

Fairly sure we all said that last year

Kind of.

Last year there was, for many, a genuine desire to let Fedders know his outstanding contribution really was appreciated. So whilst overall we were pretty disenchanted with the players individually and the team collectively, Federici was clearly deserving of a Player of the Season award.

This season, although some (Al-Habsi, McShane, Quinn, err......) can be said to have been OK most of the time, and on a few occasions really good, no one stands out as deserving of real recognition from the fans.

I would, however, really laugh if Blackman got it.

We must surely give it to the only Reading player to distinguish themselves in the World Cup

Vote Fran Kirby....

TBH only McShane, Gunter and Norwood have shown any reasonable consistency this season so they should be the top 3.

Personally I'd give it to the no. 13 who has had to endure it all.

What about Vydra?

It's not his fault that all the players around him have been absolutely dire this year. And Vydra has had to put up with an absolute barrage of criticism, totally unjustified from Dellor throughout the season.

Despite all of this, Vydra has always given 100%, never shirked, never hidden and kept plugging away. If anyone deserves a player of the year award it must surely be Super Matej Vydra.

If he'd received more service and was wearing glasses or contact lenses, he would have scored a lot more goals.

:D :D A parody of whom?

I was only joking. But, jokes aside, I have to confess, I did actually vote for Matej Vydra in the player of the season vote. The reason. I felt sorry for him and I figured that no one else will vote for him so I'll at least give him my vote. Also I couldn't think of anyone that really deserves the accolade this year. To be fair. Vydra has given all he can and he didn't deserve the huge extent of the criticism that was levelled towards him.

Congrats to Norwood, from a turgid season he was just about the standout performer.

Al Habsi and McShane ran him close but a few hundred votes short to catch Norwood.

That type of sentiment got J Corbyn elected as leader of the Labour Party! Dangerous tactic.

Norwood must have a big family if he's won it.

Oh look, sandman's having a dig at a popular and well performing Reading player, that's new and unusual.
