Meite has had a further scan in his ankle and the injury has not healed as hoped, looking at another 3-4 weeks out

And to add to his woes, he's just had an operation for appendicitis. At least that gives his ankle plenty time to heal!

“After his first week injured he was coming up to me saying boss I can play, but I said Yakou you are still limping so I don’t think you can."

May be an irrelevant post on here, but does anyone know how Dominic Samuel is getting on with his return to fitness?

Aware he has just recovered and started training recently again but other than that haven't heard too much. Would like to see him be given a chance in the first team when he is fully fit.

Got back to match fitness but then injured himself making a sandwich.

He played the first 45 minutes against Saints in the U23s game on Monday. Subbed at half time in a performance that was apparently woeful (team not just him), the two HT subs saw Reading play pretty well, but not convert enough pressure into clear chances (sound familiar) and get picked off by Saints - ended 3-1. Suggests he isn't ready to move into the first team yet.

Surprised he can even feature in a game for them. One of the worst players ever to play for us. Alongside Matej Vydra.

Seriously? Granted Anton had bad luck with his injuries but when he did play he looked very assured, very harsh to even suggest he was a bad player, let alone one of the worst.

Agreed tidus.

Thought when he played he looked very assured, just made of glass.

Danny Williams is a major doubt for the Derby game with a twisted ankle.

Update

Rakels is not expected to be available until around January after an operation and ongoing work on his ankle

Cooper has recovered and rejoined training yesterday. Expected to play a couple of U23 games in the coming weeks to start bringing him back up to speed

Meite is expected to join in with some training sessions next week so presume we could see him making a bench or two at the end of the month

Paul McShane has a slight hamstring strain. Likely to miss the next 3/4 games.

Get used to Joey being back in central defence.

Surprised it looks like we're choosing Joey to plug the hole, got plenty of options although they all seem a bit awkward

Blackett for starters would seem the logical choice, especially if Obita's getting chosen at LB for home games

Gravenberch and Wieser can play there, but even though they've both been here a few months now they don't seem near the first team

Doubt Cooper's going to get a go even though he's back from injury now

Yeah unfortunately for Cooper he performed so poorly in pre-season that he seems to be totally out of JS's plans ...

Plus the EP reports that Cooper will play a couple of U23 games first to get back to match fitness before being considered (unless there is a complete emergency of course).
