I just don't understand why Williams took the pen. He has the shooting ability of a turnip. Would have thought Kerm would have taken it.

If we can just score from open a play a bit better, by upping our ideas when it comes to passing, and cut out all of the suicidal defensive lapses, we could have a very good season.

Blackett looks solid virtually the entire game but drops at least three stupid mistakes. Ipswich easily had the chances to win that, VDB loses concentration and it should be an easy goal for Smith for example.

I can understand people getting pissed off with us repeatedly conceding just after HT. Booing the passing is stupid though.

CountryRoyal Massive get out of jail card there.

Being slightly pedantic, I'd say that if we had equalised from a losing position so late on or if they had missed an open goal in the dying seconds...

If you have to "watch" a game via BBC text stream from some foreign shore, like I did tonight, that wasn't a bad one to "watch". Up to third place, that'll do nicely! :D

VDB was my MoM, he did an excellent job mopping up at the back the majority of the times we got caught...

Good result from an OK performance. Credit to Ipswich as they showed how to apply pressure by pushing higher up the pitch and forcing us into areas. The passing across the back is fine if the tempo remains high, otherwise it shows the fragility in the players. Our back four are strong but can be prone to being out of position, especially by clever moving players.

VDB covered every blade of grass today. Pace on the wings caused problems and we look dangerous when we keep the shorter 5 yard passes. We must have a plan b though when teams press us. Kermit won every header but the wingers must get closer to him in order to gain the advantage.

Sets up mid week well

Yeah, Beerens faded out of the second half, but Joey got loads of last minutes tackles / interceptions and won the winning penalty. I thought Moore brought the ball out of defence very well. Kermorgant worked the Ipswich defence well for little reward. Some good saves from Al-Habsi.

I'd agree with VDB MotM.

Ipswich is another tough team that'll be in the mix this season. McCarthy is a top manager in this league.
We've also done over Cardif and made Brighton look quite ordinary. On the whole, a good start to a campaign where we had one of the toughest starts of all teams. Newcastle was a glitch and Wolves mauled us. I think the players are learning and are toughing it up and not rolling over so easily.
Stam is doing well and we are much better placed than I thought we'd be at the start of the season. I'd have said 3rd bottom at this stage 2 months ago.

Ian Royal Yeah, Beerens faded out of the second half

I think we'd have seen young Harriott on for him had Blackett not been booked and being put under pressure after that...

One thing is painfully obvious we are too predictable. Clubs will soon suss out how we play. We need a plan B. Yann is not mobile enough to be a lone striker and is to dependent on the service he receives. We need someone who can mix it up front and can get in behind defenders as well as bring others in and have some pace. Williams needs to see a good pass and Gareth needs to get more involved. Not far off from being a top 6 side.

Good evening on the whole. First two pens iffy but could have gone either way......The winner was a stone waller for. Player had been warned and made no attempt to look at the ball was just interested in grabbing the man.
Pleased with JS interview. He knows we are a work in progress and admitted our target is top 10. We will get there but it will take time. I'd have taken where we are at the start of the season so far.

BonBoh It's not like we're losing or bottom of the league playing rubbish. Pathetic boo-meisters.
