Barney With hotels closed until early July, or longer, where will players stay on the eve of away matches ?
eg....our trip to Derby on Sat June 27th with a 1pm kick off.

I think it’s a case of travelling in the coach on the morning of the game. In the Derby example, which isn’t being televised, why is that at 1pm and not later? Surely that will give their players quite an advantage

Presumably clubs will also fly more ? Reading to Middlesboro would be horrendous to do by coach with no overnights. 5 hours then straight into a game then back on the coach for the journey home. Going to skew some games horrendously and affect some clubs much more than others.

I would imagine this will have had to be factored in to the plans to get going. You may well find that each club has to designate an accomodation for the travelling side and it will be deep cleaned after every match. So for example, if needed, Stoke for example will stay over at the stadium hotel that will only be accessible to designated personnel.

If that doesn't happen then I would imagine all kick off times have to be agreed by both clubs, so no way the club would agree with a 1pm kick-off if it is going to leave them at a disadvantage.

Stranded First time a Reading game has kicked off at 6pm on a weekday?

Unlikely.

Pre floodlights, midweek games were played in the early evenings in Aug/Sep and April.

Back then 'everyone' knocked off work at 5pm, cycled home for a quick sandwich and mug of tea, cycled to Elm Park, game over by 8pm, home in time for Ovaltine, flannelette pyjamas, and the nine o'clock news on the Home Service.

Don't knock it. First home league game after the war we won 10-2 in these conditions (8,421 attending).

So, the plan is to play Tues- Sat-Tues and have continuous testing.

What if on the Monday there's a positive test on a player?

There's been contact in the Saturday game so presumably those two clubs (say A and B) are now in quarantine and can't play on the 2nd Tuesday. Therefore neither can their scheduled opponents, C and D. And the possibility / probability is that the positive tested player picked up the virus during the game on the first Tuesday when he was playing against E. So E are now retrospectively in quarantine as are their Saturday opponents F. And therefore neither E nor F can play their scheduled fixtures on the second Tuesday against G and H.

So - one positive test takes out a third of the clubs in the division with a knock-on timing effect on the rest of the schedule - i.e. all the last (46th) games taking place simultaneously and the play-offs.

I expect I've got this wrong. Please tell me where the flaw is.

Not 6.00pm but Blythe spartons was an afternoon kick off in midweek because of the miners strike way back in the 70s.

Silver Fox If we put crowd noise on our home games will it just be a bunch of grumbling, moaning and booing?

Classic Fox once again denigrating our own fans.
Presumably he gets a kick out of doing this but it's a bit sad.

Or he thought it was funny?!

In his head yes but the jerk is forever putting down fans and posters.

We have a terrible fanbase, laughably reactive, very quiet and completely fairweather.

We have managed to come 23rd in the away attendance once again, and this is despite having free coach travel & performing well on our travels this season. In terms of numbers out support is poor. But by the reports of home atmosphere being a lot better, and my experience of away atmosphere being decent, I think we’re underrated in that aspect

Aren’t you always telling posters off for calling people names?

Will the play off finals really be held behind closed doors at Wembley?

His problem isn't being rude to people, it's using swear words or doing it openly. He's perfectly happy to get in a sly dig.

If you were a player at one of the play off teams wouldn’t you want it to be played at Wembley.
Might be the one and only chance
