What about without a full strength side, seeing as we basically haven't had one all season?

I'm not especially confident with anyone. If Barnsley make it they'll probably be one of the form teams, likewise Cardiff, or a resurgent Bournemouth. Watford and Swansea seem to just grind out results, and I don't think our record against those sort of stolid defensive sides is brilliant. And then there's Brentford, who have a soft underbelly but seem to be able to just score their way out of trouble.

I can't help but feel Brentford would be a bit of a repeat of the Swansea PO Final, whilst Watford or Swansea would be more of a Burnley semi.

We've got a chance of course, but we're a bit soft and prone to dip in performance.

WestYorksRoyal If we make the playoffs, Brentford are the team I fear the most and are the best team on their day. Swansea are really nothing special and I'd back us to beat them with a full strength team.

Quite a bold statement considering we`ve not beaten the Swans in 14 meetings since 2008. (D6 L8)

He did say if we had a full strength side. I would fancy our chances against them too.

This, and the fact they have the most clean sheets this season.

We're second.

Norwich are 3rd.

Crazy really. We've kept 16 clean sheets. Means we have let in 37 goals in the other 19.

So, if you score past us, you are likely to get 2 but getting the first is pretty hard to do.

I'd rather play Swansea over 2 legs in a semi than Brentford or Watford

That seems... unusual... but it's been commented on a few times how often we let in goals in quick succession to lose all chance of turning a game around.

It's skewed by that run of games between Coventry and Bournemouth. Was it 14 conceded in 4? So strip them out and it's 23 in 15.

URZZZZZZZZ Not sure if this is necessarily the correct thread to raise this, but does anyone actually genuinely think we’ll be promoted this season?

This may be to do with not going to games, but personally I’m finding it really hard to get excited and just can’t see us going up.

If nothing else. We haven't had the basis of a solid team in many years. Another summer clear out will help enormously. With little money in the game. The strength of the academy is going to be key over the next couple of seasons. .

We’ve got to stop Jordi Gomez if we want to have any chance.

I'd say it's unlikely, but finish in the top 6 and see what happens.

The key thing is we build upon this season. After 16/17, we had 3 years of rubbish. I think we’re better than that now, with a core of a squad to build upon. But there are some big decisions to make; replacing Richards, contract renewals, what a fair sale price is for Olise. I trust our management as they've done well in the transfer market for 2 years now, but there's still question marks over FFP and funds we will have available.

Yes and no.

Apart from the Wycombe debacle, every league game we have lost has seen us concede at least 2.

1-0 x 1
2-0 x 1
2-1 x 3
3-0 x 2
3-1 x 2 (both to Brentford)
3-2 x 1
4-2 x 1

So 28 of the 37 goals conceded came in those 11 defeats. In the other 24 games we were took a point or more, we have conceded just 9.

To me that shows, we have an incredibly good defence who when, they happen to have an off day, really have an off day.

Isn't it? Can only be a confidence thing or the way we are set up, which is to keep it tight and use the skills of the forwards to nick a goal or two. Feels like we don't quite have the game plan for getting back into a game when we slip behind and panic a little bit, when as shown at Huddersfield, just keep doing the same thing, chances will come.

Unless I am missing one, outside of those games, we have only conceded twice in one more game this season, the 4-2 at Blackburn.

Breakdown (goals conceded)

16 x 0 goals
8 x 1
5 x 2
5 x 3
1 x 4

It's certainly something Pauno should look to work on. Perhaps his tactical tweaks have hindered us in certain situations. I hope someone on here does a broad look into that. For example opposition table position, formation and how the goals were conceded. Perhaps the oppositions form before the games. We could learn a lot from this.

I want it in giant lettering and in a difficult to read and overly verbose format.

Is this somewhat similar (but not as marked) as Stam's 1st season? That season, when we lost, we got slaughtered! Although another difference was we seemed to be able to bounce back quicker that season, there weren't any 4 defeats in a row type runs - that I remember anyway.
