Franchise FC
Hendo
Franchise FC SSN reporting Paunovic may name the same side as Saturday.

I know we’re short of plan B but playing a clearly unfit Joao would be sticking to plan A ostrich style

(I know SSN make stuff up)

They also said that we had the same team on Saturday as we did for the Swansea game :)

I have absolutely no idea why I fall for their crap. I should know by now.

Will the referee allow Joao to take his crutches onto the pitch ?
Might make some iffy holes in the pitch as well

One of which Swift would doubtless catch his foot in, twist his knee and be out all season through the consequent ACL damage!

If injuries to senior players carry on at this rate we will be down to fielding a team of U16s by Christmas.

Dreadful news. It’s all about avoiding relegation now.

You really could not script this. Meites out for the whole season. Jaol out to next year. Just leaving us with Puscas.
And with a back four all over the shop I am very worried. In what was supposed to be a season of celebrating our 150th birthday I can see us down by Christmas oh deep joy.

Forget the injuries. If Paubo doesn't pull his finger out on the shambles that is our defence we're fooked regardless..

10 goals in 4 games.

Going by VPs half joke of "who is Roberto?" after the match, I hope he will be through the door before Saturday. Will give the defence some proper balance at least.

Only if McIntyre gets moved to CB so we can ditch captain calamity

The only positive is that I would expect that EFL to now allow us to bring in a new striker on better terms than our current restrictions. This is a reasonable situation in which to break the rules.

Am working on the assumption that every injury we get will be season ending, so anything better than that is a bonus.

What I don’t understand is how, since Adkins came in, our injuries have become a lot worse than they used to be.

We used to be the fittest team before then.

Is it the type of players we’ve signed being injury-prone? Or yet more mismanagement?

I think its a combination of increased focus on passing and technique leaves less time for fitness training. Remember Rodgers dropping it massively and us looking shot after 65 minutes? Plus more intricate passing and technical players doing twists and turns, playing into trouble and inviting challenges puts more strain on the body in game. Plus the defence having to do endless last gasp lunges or blocks.

I don't think it's any coincidence that the defence looks more of a shambles when managers try to drill them to pass out. They should be focusing on minimising risk and training defending, not trying to convert centrebacks to playmakers and embracing risk.

We have to be one of the most done by sides for injuries to key players in the last 8 years though. If it's continuing then clearly we're not doing something right in training as Ian alluded to.
