Sutekh
WestYorksRoyal Right decision. Hope we can bring another ST in on loan.

Can't help but feel the title of this thread should be amended.

I know ... it confused me a little as well.

Agreed this is the right decision. He was never going to fit in with the style of play Selles wants and it frees up wages for another striker to come in (even if on loan).

Good luck to him. Would have liked to have kept him, but he obviously doesn't fit the way we want to play under Selles. Never really played to his strengths properly.

I’m a bit gutted by this. I thought he’d tear up League One, but he looked in much better shape during his first loan spell with us.

I wish him all the best for the future and 11 goals in 40ish appearances wasn’t too shoddy.

We're a much better and more creative team without him, because the default option of "lump it forward for Carroll to win in the air" isn't there any more, so the players have to think and try something else.

I liked him and a bit sad to see him go but right decision and suprised he started the season with us

Little bit of ‘if only’ he didn’t do that stupid handball against Luton but nevermind

Not sure we are that creative with or without him tbh.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan 12 apps 5 goals, goal every 2.4 games

Andy Carroll 40 apps 11 goals, goal every 3.63 games

Ehibhatiomhan is 20 and has a future in the game

The other is 34, wish him luck, top bloke

Also Ehib's all round game is better than Carroll's has been too. He's a bit faster, his ball control is better and he generally holds up the ball more effectively.

Sad to see him go. Obviously he wanted out but I’d have liked to have seen him stay mostly as something a bit different off the bench when we’re chasing games and what we’re doing isn’t working.

Right decision, but will always have a place in my Royals heart for that amazing disallowed brace!

This. Absolute top whole bloke from what I can make out, happy to play the game for the game's sake. Just a shame that the managers he was saddled with here were such utter podheads and couldn't make a system that brought the best out of him, so much more than just a head. Still it's right of Selles to recognise the impossibility of the situation and hopefully Reading will go on to create a forward line with some real threat - for the first time in about 5 years.

Sit deep, defend crosses and then hoof the Carroll will always be remembered as the absolute pits. Agree he could have been so much better if the team had a plan to get the ball wide and put in dangerous crosses.

Sad to see him go and he did a good job for us but the right call all around. Ehibatiomhan should be our number 1 striker. Hopefully we can bring someone in today to bolster up front as we're screwed if there are injuries.

Bit of an unfair comparison with Carroll playing for us in the Championship but Kelvin mainly in League 1-there is quite some difference between the two levels.
Thanks Andy for always trying, in a quite forgettable season, when it looked as though so many didn't.

There's also just a wee bit of difference between their experience.

It’s a shame his last performance for us was him getting absolutely bullied by some port vale bloke who’s name I don’t know.

I’ll always remember him for the annihilation of Norwich and the world’s best disallowed brace.
