So what about everyone else then? As mentioned, Bristol City, Stoke, Middlesbrough etc. They are all in danger or have broken FFP and/or P&S regulations. The EFL and ourselves agreed on a Business Plan, so they didn't write it, but they were involved in the process where both parties came to an agreement on what was acceptable.

Are Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham still under watch by the EFL just out of interest as they previously broke the rules, had points deducted and are now clear. Birmingham are currently losing £600k a week on day-to-day activities and this has been going on for years, so where is the EFL's contingency plan with them?

Ok, you are spot on. It’s just us that is getting picked on. Everyone else has been allowed to do what they want with no repercussions. It’s all horrible and really unfair.....

I'm not suggesting we are being picked on, but Birmingham have not changed anything since their points deduction, hence why they've been losing so much a week on day-to-day activities and have a wage bill to turnover ratio that has increased, not decreased. Where they've "beaten" the system is that they've managed to sell Bellingham and Adams for high value.

My point is, we can start grossly overpaying players again, but if we manage to sell 2/3 players on for big money which steers us clear of FFP regulations, then the EFL wouldn't get involved. I take your point about everyone being under watch, but it's some closer than others, but yet Birmingham's attitude doesn't seem to have shifted much yet they haven't been anywhere near which goes back to what was originally said about we can start offering certain players massive wages again, but if we can make a big sale we will keep clear of FFP, so I don't see why that would be a problem with the EFL.

Of course any club that has actually breached the rules once will be under closer scrutiny than others. That should be expected.

Birmingham are ok because they haven't breached (yet) thanks to sales. We could have maybe avoided breaching if we'd sold Moore for £7m and got his £1.5m a year wage off the bill, sold Swift for £4m and got his £1m a year wage off the bill, sold Loader for £1m and not spunked £7m on Puscas the instant we got the chance. That’s a good £20m better off we could have been over about 3-4 seasons.

Instead we spent loads on mediocrity and refused to realise value on anyone where we could get it.

Yeah that's what we should have done, but we decided to keep hold of our better players at the time, most of which ultimately weren't good enough for the Premier League. We did actually manage to make a few sales, notably Bacuna, Illori and Barrow (granted not for "big" fees), and we were still well in excess of FFP losses.

Moore had a brilliant season when we finished 3rd but we really should have accepted the money Brighton offered.

Puscas was signed as a promising striker without a plan on how we'll play him. This is why we need a decent infrastructure of planning at the club rather than using Kia Joorabchian who wouldn't give a toss if we went down.

Aren't Stoke supposed to be in financial bother as well?

Good luck to him. Class first season, mostly pretty bad second season

Stoke 'sold' their stadium for a vast amount. I think they have much better accountants than we do!

I would have been more surprised if he’d signed a new contract and the same goes for Rino. I am going to remain positive about next season as we’ll have a plan, we always do.

I assume Stoke are going balls to the wall next season to try and get up? Would imagine they'll be in financial meltdown should they not be promoted next season.

Not surprising but absolutely galling nonetheless. What's frustrating is that if we hadn't got ourselves in such an FFP mess, we'd have surely extended his deal last year. Interestingly he may well find himself in a similar FFP mess at Stoke in a year or so.

If Bowen and Ince can keep us up next season their achievement will almost match those of Hammond and Coppell.

Yeah frustrating being as Stoke were pretty useless last year and seem from the outside at least to be cheating FFP

Still always unlikely to re-sign with us

I’ll only start to worry if they ask for volunteers for preseason training. Boost the numbers for 5 aside.

How the oxf*rd have Stoke not fallen foul of FFP? And now they're nicking one of our best players.

It will be interesting to see how much game time he gets, as they also have Allen and Baker in the central midfield.
