YorkshireRoyal99 Building the Staffordshire Royals then by the sounds of it. Lewis Baker in midfield, Liam Moore on loan last season etc. Probably wouldn't be surprised to see them move for Joao or Meite next season, providing both stay beyond this summer.

Strange policy to pick up a load of players from a shite team but there you go

To be fair, even with last seasons squad, there is an argument to suggest we should have been challenging for the play offs again based on individual quality.

Obviously that's not the be all and end all, as last season proved.

So you've completely negated your original point then. Great stuff.

Lol what?

"We should have been challenging for the playoffs based on individual quality"

"We didn't end up challenging for the playoffs based upon individual quality"

You always have to say something don't you? Even when it makes absolutely no sense, just have to say something.

I've never said that I thought that, I said there was an argument, not that I thought it.

The "we" aspect was the team/club, not my personal opinion.

There is an argument, but not one that holds that much water

Can’t blame everything solely on Pauno and injuries. Some of the players (all?) just aren’t as good as we thought they were

Or as THEY think they are. A lot of egos took a battering last season.

Yeah true. Classic example is Laurent I suppose, with it being rumoured he could end up at a PL club at the end of last season, he's now ended up at a mid table Championship side. Rino in a team that challenged for the play offs last season, linked with Bristol City and Stoke, bottom half/mid table level etc.

Hendo
NathStPaul I have no time for players who don't want to be here normally but I'd go out on a limb and say that wasn't the case for Laurent, think he would of happily stayed had we been able to pay him decent money.

Fair play to Moore IMO, realised his billionaire employer was a moron and took him to the cleaners. I'd have done the same thing

Yep, as much as I detest Liam Moore he and his agent have done a great job of conning our poor owner.

And it's a team game, disparate good individuals mean the square root of F all.

Hence why we finished at the bottom and Luton the top

Absolute sideways move, shows how shit the situation is when we can't offer a salary competitive with Cardiff..

Shame to lose an experienced academy graduate but won't miss him ultimately. Chance to rebuild and replace now.

Ambivalent about Rino.
Looked very good at the start of his stint in the first team, but then seemed to reach a plateau.

Hope we can find a decent holding midfielder somewhere to come in.

Shame. Was an absolutely solid Champ midfielder who kept it simple and did his job. And an Academy graduate. Brilliant attitude.

We now have to sign an entire midfield.

Anyone thinking we can replace him and Laurent easily is living in lalaland.

No-one thinks we can replace them easily

Keeping one of those two may have been the ideal situation but people are just making the point that isn’t the disaster that others are making out given their performances in the last year

Aside from the last two months (in which Drinkwater was the stand out midfielder in that period) the midfield was bypassed and dominated game on game

Nothing wrong with a refresh as long there’s a clear plan and structure ahead
