As a short term decision we needed someone in charge

Would rather this than just Gilkes or something along those lines.

Yeh this. If it was a permanent appointment I'd be massively underwhelmed, but to take charge until we find the right person is fine. Surely a positive that it's someone that hasn't been around this shower of shit.

All depends doesn't it. As a long term appointment, it's worrying given his lack of jobs for years and hit and miss lower league record.

On the other hand, he should have reasonable knowledge of the league, he was a tough midfielder with a strong work ethic who knew how to do the dirty work, and he's working with Gilkes on a short term basis. And most importantly, his name isn't Paunovic.

He's got a pretty easy job, just get the players to give a shit.

Yeah I agree. It’s not the best manager, but we were never going to get the best manager at the moment - and to a certain extent we don’t need one anyway imho, just someone who knows what a substation is, doesn’t put 11 men in the box for every corner and lets the players play to their ability.

He's a temp FFS.

A player's dad brought in to help Gilkes is no bad thing when we'd have been quite happy for Gilkes to oust Pauno even though he's never managed. This gives Gilkes a bit of management experience to boost him. Ince's managerial career also hasnlt all been bad.

Great temp situation if nothing else.

To be fair, quite often this season 'shoot' would be pretty good advice for our team.

'Defend' would be more apt though

Getting somebody's Dad in on the cheap is as good as we could hope for, I suppose.

The thing is not to confuse the player with the manager, but it might be nice to have somebody bad at passing in charge who is a bit angry and wants all the younger players to call him, guvnor.

He's a fresh face with new ideas and a no nonsense attitude. As long as he leaves his ego at home, this could do until summer.

Happy with this as a short term appointment and now looking forward to the Birmingham game on Tuesday. I assume Paul Ince has been told that he’s got the job?

The first 60 mins of todays game reminded all of us that on its day this team can play football. If Ince and Gilkes can just install some fight and belief into this team we'll be fine.
A few tweaks here and there, especially with zonal marking and the two centre backs charge out on goal kicks etc....Joao looks to be hitting form at the right time and Swift and Drinkwater brought their A Game today.
Onwards and Upwards!!!
