Looked nasty but hopefully he’s okay. It’ll be just our luck it’s his ACL.

Wasn’t he walking onto pitch at the end?

Hopefully minor but rules out anyone buying him this transfer window

Yep, just realised that he came on with an ice pack on his knee. Hopefully it’s just precautionary.

So, we went into pre-season with basically 0-1 players injured, maybe Moore.

We now have Moore, Dann, Long, possibly Joao and BOO the trialist. That's in about 3-4 weeks.

So the horrendous pace of injuries from last season isn't really showing signs of letting up given that pre-season isn't competitive and should be about making sure everyone is fit, not pushing them to the limit.

It happens. Not alot you can do about that. Early treatment and diagnosis might improve though. It is what it is.

Think it is quite common for players to pick up niggling injuries in pre-season given that players are still coming back to fitness and everyone is at different stages. It's certainly not an encouraging sign and is a cause for concern, but I wouldn't read too much into it yet.

I don’t think Long should have played vs West Ham - thought that at the time, don’t think he’d have had anything like the pre season fitness levels of the others. Was a bit of a stunt (understandable) but really should have had a week or two with us first

Actually, is it a coincidence the two oldest players in the squad are injured?

Long and Dann...

Not in the slightest

Another reason why don’t think Long should have played. If you’re 23 you can prob manage 15mins without a lot of training. Not so much at 35

I think we can add Tetek to the injured list as well. Saw him the Lower West about 20 mins before kickoff

My colleague hangs around for autographs (with his kids allegedly) and tells me that both Yiadom and Ince hobbled back to their cars on Saturday

If they had any kind of injury they would hardly have been driving themselves home would they ? Probably just early season soreness or minor bumps and bruises.
No doubt both will be back by October....

I wonder if/when we’ll hear any news about Joao’s injury? Whenever one of players gets injured it always seems to be a bad one.

There's a fair few injuries where they'd be fine to drive I'm sure.

For example, you can walk perfectly normally on a sprained ankle, but you couldn't play.

is walking the same as driving ?
Whether the club would take the risk of a valuable asset getting behind the wheel when injured I’m not convinced. If they had an accident the insurance company might ask a few questions too ! Immediately after the game they tend to be cautious with diagnosis and if they weren’t in boots or going for a scan but we’re driving they have hopefully been assessed as just being wimps.
But the point that any injury they might have would seem likely to be minor still holds.

Joao was at Bearwood today so hopefully rules out something serious.

Do they not have treatment facilities at Bearwood?

Or injury record would suggest they don't!! etc...

No of course walking is not the same as driving. It's an example of how an injury that can stop you playing sport allows you to function in other ways normally still.

I do know people who have driven with sprained ankles though.

You could drive with something like fractured ribs. A fractured wrist. All sorts of things.

It probably is minor, it's only described as hobbling afterall But driving isn't the proof of that.
