Will relegation hurt you?

by windermereROYAL » 22 Apr 2023 18:31

Well some of us of a certain age have been trough it a few times before some of the younger fan base have never experienced a relegation to the third tier.
Can`t say it won`t hurt but I`ve been there quite a few times before, providing the owners don`t do a runner I`m quite relaxed about the prospect of League one football next season.

In this case the Ian Royal option is the absolutely oxf*rd ecstatic option.

Gutted.

Truly the end of the road and the final slap in the face to all those who built the club up so successfully in the Sir John era.

All that good work finally undone once and for all. Leaving us right back where we started.

Disappointed but remember back in the 90s getting relegated. Might be nice to start winning again. League one has made some sides stronger I believe Sheffield United and Norwich come to mind you never know it might be what we need

But meh actually

Know what - I am bored of us being utterly crap in the champ. Almost any change would be preferable. And I’m certainly naive to the fact we prob won’t come straight back up

Always gutted to go down tbh but I’ve been resigned to it for a while.

I think League One will be tough but the last 10 years have been utter rubbish and I just can’t see how we can rebuild in the Championship. I love football and going to live games and I’d go whether we were in the Premiership or National League South.

Disappointed we have got in a mess but if we are not good enough then we have to drop down to find our level. That's the competition we entered.

Would likely bring me back as a season ticket holder

Been on the cards for years this has.

I've experienced 3 relegations to tier 4, one where a side scored an injury time goal in a 3.15 kick off to relegate us, so no probs with relegation, seen it all.

Its what Dai decides to do if we go down is the real worry

I literally was in tears earlier. Premier league relegation hurt but this hurts so much more. We'd be a huge club in league one and a scalp for most clubs

We're a small club compared to them 2. Doesn't mean we'll do that

I wonder what he's thinking right now. He's the one man I want us to keep pleasing

Gutted and sad it’s come to this but as they said it is what it is especially as without the points deduction we would have been ok but like all here in numb to it all really years of dross mis management rubbish managers etc

I’d love to buy into this great reset go down and we restart and all is ok again but sadly I don’t, if we go down we should at least be OK in L1 but I fear we will have the same drudgery just in a lower league

But you never know !

Not happy, not devastated. I don't subscribe to the "this will kill the club" option, but it's going to be a few years before we're back.

4 seasons, for me. Then hopefully back with a better footing.

I don't think there is any reset if we go down. Just hope we get back to winning more games than we lose so at least people enjoying their day out at the football

SJM seems permanently p……d whenever I see him. When you think he took over in 1990 in the third division mid table gate’s of 3,000. To 8th in the Premiership, over 20 years of dedication to the club. And in the space of a couple of years the Chinese Circus has come to town and we are right back where we started.

Yeah probs the same for me. If we can avoid finishing in the bottom half of L1 on our 1st season down then I think that's decent enough and would hopefully give us a platform to work from
