Can i just point out the "play when fit" angle is just Hound's speculation.

I can't see "play when fit" being a dispute involving the EFL. It would be a contractual dispute about injury status, and not related to money.

The charge literally says: Non payment of loan wages.

Why not just take it at face value, perhaps we havent paid loanee wages. :o

NathStPaul What are you going to do about it Jimmy? Whats the plan?

According to the Facebook groups there is a protest being planned for Sunday at the stadium. You know, when all the staff members are off and at home.

This could be the most tragic event of all time. I might go to take photos.

https://www.efl.com/news/2023/june/efl- ... eading-fc/

Reading Football Club has been charged with multiple breaches of EFL Regulations.

The charges relate to the Club failing to meet their obligations to pay its players’ wages on time and in full on or around 31 October 2022, 30 November 2022 and 28 April 2023.

Yongge Dai, the Club’s owner, has also been charged with causing the Club to be in breach of EFL Regulations despite his commitment to fund the cash requirements of the Club.

The Club and Mr Dai have until 4pm on Thursday 29 June 2023 to respond to the charges.

I know there are lots of "bedwetters" and twittertwats but I do think this club is in serious trouble. I have seen nothing to provide any reassurance at all.

Even that stupid statement yesterday which was understandably a bit bland now looks ridiculous considering today's news. The club would have known about the embargo and pay issues, so why not address or even hint at that.

3 years time we'll be in the conference or bust

The EFL have themselves to blame for letting the clown buy us out.

Really getting to the point of not caring any more, just another shambles from a club that's a complete joke these days.

I’m now expecting a 12 to 24 points deduction, especially if we go into administration. This is very serious and there’s real chance we might lose our club, which is oxf*rd sad.

Where in the world are you getting your prediction of 12 to 24 points from? Precedent with Wigan is a 4pt suspended penalty, perhaps you could argue they might apply it immediately due to our previous record.

I'm speculating here - but that statement reads like the EFL have just lost patience with us and are now throwing everything they can at Dai. It's awful.

yeah this is pretty bad - more shit piled on.

Be interesting* if this relates to the loan players given that is listed on the embargo page on the EFL but also surprised at the timing as the club were fairly open about late payment around those times, so not sure why the charge didn't come then?

If precedent is followed (Spolier: it won't be) then this should be a suspended points penalty - Wigan received that for failure to pay wages on time, 3 times - with automatic deductions for future breaches.

By far a bigger concern is how we can now build a competitive squad - would you, as a player, choose to sign for Reading when you know there is a chance you may not get paid on time - or would you sign on to manage a squad who you know either won't be good enough, big enough or be distracted by worries around wages?

Its a oxf*rd shambles.

The only way forward now is new owners else we will continue to slide from one crisis to another.

I never understand this. Fans' would have gone made had the EFL blocked a buyout.

Also the EFL conduct checks and on paper he probably is fit and proper. He would have had a business case, proof of funds, proof of their provenance and credible references.

The EFL can only do so much.

The club are to blame - I don't know how else to label it but we need to stop deflecting to other people.

It is certainly an interesting change in tone that they have charged Dai this time as well.

This would be the second year in a row where Bowen has painted an over optimistic picture of the club to the fans.

When he told everyone the club mislead the football league with a massively over ambitious player sales forecast in order to not get a 12 point deduction in one year, i did think he was being too clever by half and said it on here.

Don't lie to the EFL and then tell everyone in public a year later how you lied to spread the two points deductions over two years.

I also posited that if he admitted to lying in 2021-22, there was a good chance he was lying again in 2022-23. If the club didnt pay wages on time in October and November - which would appear is a sanctionable offence - he had no right to tell the fans the club was in a good shape sanctions wise for the future.

Time for people to realise, Bowen doesn't tell you the truth. Factor that in when listening to him next time.

wigan were asked to put 125% of a months wages in a pot to stop this from happening again. I wonder if that 6 mill that was put into the club just recently is what we've been asked to do also

Much less likely to fail to pay players on time if you don't have any players! Genius move from Dai.

The autumn non paymemt of wages was down to difficulties getting money out of Hong Kong and just delayed over the weekend. Nothing like Wigan so max we will get is something suspended.

Is there anything on record with the EFL re Dai keeping money in a wages account?

The football finance guy Kieran Maguire said that every time someone uses the excuse of 'difficulties in transferring money' it's complete bullshit. The international banking system doesn't ever close.
