Leeds, Leeds, fukkin’ Leeds yay!!…who thought we’d say that?

Sir Steve can start to think about uncorking that bottle of red in a few weeks….as he always does when our record remains intact.

He can almost smell the cork

2.41 points a game needed, can only afford to drop 7 points in 12 games.

Even if Leicester overtook the 106 points I wouldn't really count it. We did it spending literally no money. They've had tens of millions.

the ££££ spending belt loosens each season……which makes it that bit more remarkable each season that we retain it.

How wasteful were Leicester? Should have been 5 or 6 up. Terrible in front of goal, and collapsed like a house of cards when they conceded.

Following tonights defeat for Leicester, they have 12 games remaining and a possible total of 114 points still achievable.

We now need Leicester to drop at least 9 points, meaning they gain no more than 27 points from a possible 36.

27 Points can be achieved with either of the following.
9 wins, 0 draws, (3 defeats)
8 wins, 3 draws, (1 defeat)

We are likely going to need them to drop points in at least 4 games from the 12 remaining. The games where this appears most likely are versus current top 6 teams Hull (A), Southampton (H) and West Brom (H), and playoff chasing Norwich (H) and Preston (A).

Leicester are still in the FA cup and face Bournemouth away in the 5th round next week. Let's hope they progress, and get distracted.

Not exactly relevant, but Watford finished the 05-06 season on 81 points

so we were actually promoted on https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/lea ... uary-2006/

Championship wage bills for 2023/24. the relegated teams are literally in a different league of their own.

Its a whole new ball game these days when you throw in FFP the rest of the league have to adhere to. I think the record will be threatened most seasons for the foreseeable.

Those figures are bonkers. Surely the structure of how PL money is shared has to change under the incoming regulator.

Stoke City are 5th in the wage table and are now in the bottom three!! They must be facing some financial issues if they go down

Basically we could've lost every game after we reached 33 matches and still been promoted.

NOTE: In practice, we played Watford and Preston in those final 13 matches - so that wouldn't have literally been the case (as they would've got more points off of us than they actually did).

I don't want to see any team go through the shit we have but oxf*rd me, it feels like Stoke have been taking the piss for ages, didn't they sell their stadium to their owners for about £100m?

Their owners own Bet365, who sponsor their stadium/shirts. It could well be a Man City-style situation going on.

Yep. And as a gambling company makes massive profits, it's very useful to have a subsidiary in the group that makes substantial losses, as those losses reduce the tax bill of the gambling company.

Their owners wrote off the debt which prompted the FL to close that ffp loophole. Good old FL, excellent at locking stable doors after horses have bolted.

So let me see ...
Company A makes £100m taxable profit, due to pay £20m in tax, net gain £80m
Company B in the group makes £20m loss, reducing the taxable profit to £80m and the relevant tax to £16m, net gain £64m

I don't think you'll find that's good business sense AT ALL !!!

Yes. but if you have company B anyway - as a hobby or as something you love - and it's going to make those losses of £20m anyway, having profitable company A means the impact on you is far less than if you just own Company B on its own.

To be fair, your comment was having a loss making subsidiary is ‘very useful’.
It isn’t
