An absolutely cracking stat here

The last time Reading won away in a midweek evening league fixture in front of fans was the 30th January 2018, with a 3-1 away win at Burton Albion.

Also

If Reading fail to beat Port Vale on Saturday, they will be on a 15 game winless run, the longest in the club's history

You need to reword that since Reading have just won a game! If Reading fail to win tomorrow then it will be the longest run of league games without a win (club record is currently 14 (1927 and again in 2023)) in the club's history.

You could quickly make friends with a player and get them to leave you some tickets on the gate instead.

The club website says Port Vale will be selling tickets online for the away end from 9am tomorrow (pre-paid collections only) - https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2023/a ... g-preview/.

If you follow this link:

https://pvfc-shop.com/portvale/ASP/book ... Spectators

> click “book now” under Port Vale v Reading

> click “change to away”

Should be able to do it that way. Never seen that before, but equally I’ve never really looked.

WestYorksRoyal Is it arrogant relegated bigger club syndrome to think we really should win this?

It's not based upon delusion. There were signs of encouragement against Peterborough and we narrowly lost against a team who will be up there. I thought we'd beat plenty of lower L1 teams with that style. Well Vale are a lower L1 team. Then we followed it up with Millwall.

I think if we turn up we'll have too much for them. It may be that it takes time to gain consistency under Selles, and if we don't turn up we could well lose. But I look at the next 4 or 5 and think that they're all in our hands.

No. We should feel confident we can win any game in this league. Doesn't mean we have a right to, we still have to play well and outscore who we're against

Snowflake Royal
Royal_jimmy I think McIntyre should be benched mainly as he's so versatile. He can cover left back, he can come on for Hutchinson if he has a knock and cover the back. But ideally I'd like Bindon to come on if we have a CB injury.

Agree we should be having 1 GK, 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and 2 attackers ideally. We'll see what Selles does. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for more midfielders/attackers on the bench as the energy we need to play the way we do is high.

I say we press them, force a mistake and when they have a lone player we double up on them again, like we did at Millwall.

Who's going tomorrow? it's my first trip to Vale Park and can't wait! Other than going to Stoke is rarely an exciting experience.

I thought you hated the idea of being in L1 and going on these away trips

Give it another season or 2 and that's exactly what I'll say

1400 sold which is a solid effort! Shame we couldn't sell a few more but a good following nevertheless. The away record can't be any worse than it was last night year under Ince.

For those travelling by train and thinking about a gentle saunter back into S-O-T, bite to eat and then catch the 19.05 back to Ding, you won’t, as it has been cancelled.

Best foot forward for the 18.04 or a very slow return for the 20.05

I predict Yiadom will get a 1/4 interception along with a 3/4 throw in between the 65th and 74th minute.
