He's class, and £1m is tolerable for a kid who barely plays in L1.

And that's what is so unbelievable, honestly uSelles is such a ****.

For all of our bad business over the years, circa £2m for Luca Fletcher and Caylan Vickers, who have less than a dozen senior games between them, would be good play. Especially considering there would likely be clauses on top of this as well.

It's just a shame that we could have got a new owner, they could have flourished here then we could have got £10m+ each within a few seasons potentially. But oh well, beggers can't be choosers.

Wherever we sell him, sell on clause matters. If he goes to a massive club, he may never play a league game for them, but Chelsea and City sell academy products to top Championship sides for £8m or mid table PL sides for £20m. A 20% sell on clause could really make a difference.

Official announcement on his move to Brighton 'imminent': https://twitter.com/JmlJourno/status/17 ... 2687361150

EDIT: So imminent in fact that the club confirmed it in the time it took me to post that: https://twitter.com/ReadingFC/status/17 ... 2482699329

Shame. Good luck to him, should have played more. Hope we got something semi decent for him.

Should he? Apart from his first 2 or 3 appearances he showed he wasn't ready for the first team. Couldn't get involved, no strength, had very little impact on games.

It will come, i'm sure of that, but he didn't warrant more time in the first team.

Yes, he should have. And in his actual position rather than as a winger, which he isn’t.

But Selles is more interested in running Smith and Knibbs into the ground so he can inexplicably protect the fitness of his fullbacks every game.

Wish him well - he's been signed for their u21 side, so we'll only hear of him when he plays our u21 side. Probably won't see much first team football for a couple of seasons now, unless they feel he's ready for a Championship loan next season (poss L1 at a push).

As said, after the initial burst on to the scene, he has shown he was not quite ready for regular starts - partly due to age/stature and also because he didn't quite fit into the system we play.

He will go on to have a good career esp if he bulks up but be interesting to see if being at a PL club now is the right thing for him as the talent is definitely there.

Well they are our most impactful players at the top end of the pitch, so why would he not play them? Agree he should have used him as a 10 rather than a wide player which he isn't, but whilst Knibbs' form has been strong for a good couple of months, it's difficult to see where Vickers was going to get an opportunity from, coming off the bench or the odd cup appearance at best.

Brighton do seem to loan a consistent stream of players to Belgium and the Netherlands each season. I wonder if he’d benefit more playing in one of those leagues than an English lower division, simply as I’d imagine both would be less physical - allowing him first team football as he adapts to the physical realities of first team football.

He’s only nineteen, so will hopefully go on and have a good career, even if he doesn’t play regular first team football over the next eighteen months or so.

Yeah a loan to Belgium may well be beneficial to him, isn't it Union St Gilloise that the Brighton owner also owns - a season competing at the top of a decent top flight whilst potentially playing in Europe could certainly develop him more than fighting off L1 relegation.
