Excuse my ignorance but who the hell is William Storey ? And is that definitely Reading he is referring to when saying about investing in a British club ?

Reported to be at the stadium for a meeting yesterday. We win 9-0. He tweets that.

Go figure.

I decided to keep a running spreadsheet of the club's first-team's stats.

Some really interesting stuff emerging (but that's not the point)

I was listing all goals from left to right and I'd left 5-columns for a 5-goal game...

I kept having to insert cells etc etc etc. What a pain.

BTW this manager now has a 50% win rate W5 D1 L4
and we've scored 22-8 = 2.2 goals v 0.8 per game

Our 22 goals have been scored by 11 different players
in just ten games. Amazing!

17 of our goals have been after the 45th minute

Cheers. I just found the bit about him on new owners thread. He sounds a dodgy and not that rich in the football club owner kind of stakes.
Also his wiki after a bio of a couple of lines has written in big bold letters that he is not welcome at Reading fc lol

I haven't looked at the make-up of the Exeter team
but we won this NOT because Exeter were bad
but because WE were on fire, full of skill, spirit and energy.

This is a really, REALLY special squad, and our Academy
(and those who run it) deserve massive praise.

Our recruitment has been nothing short of amazing
and the recruitment team deserve massive applause.

I say the above not because we won 0-9.

I'd've said the same had we won 0-2 after shutting up shop.

It's the spirit, the bravery, the work-rate, the belief.

Some of our moves were an utter joy to watch.

Special Things are going to happen.

Totally agree we have some very special talented youngsters and that was a great result.
Let’s just hope the off field issues don’t impact the team any more this season as we have a squad that is good enough to be competing for a top 6 place.

Almost no one in the division has the strength in depth we can rely on.

Our first XI lacks a little experience and maturity to be one of the best in the league, but it's got a whole lot of potential.

You can only beat what's put in front of you!! Both teams were very young, however, our youngsters have been provided with the opportunity of first team football this season due to our circumstances.

Saying that, the way that we played and the style that we played with and also the fact that even at three or four goals up these young guys never even once took their foot of the gas which is testament to the coaching team, manager and the players them selves!!

This is a special group of players and i fully expect to lose a few in the near future, but if that keeps this club on good standing then so be it!! it's the Reading way and one i'm happy to accept.

Long may this continue!!!

Is there a highlights show for this cup anywhere on TV?

+1, we showed some terrific quality and skill tonight. Played full of confidence and 9-0 was a fair reflection of the dominance

For all the mention of Exeter being young, the average age of our starting XI was a year younger than their's.

I am gutted about missing this one, but I am currently working up North. A fantastic win albeit against their youngsters, but I think on average our team was younger which shows a great strength in depth.

It’s annoying that the EFL will probably deduct 6 of our goals because Dai is bound to oxf*rd up again.

Quality of opposition caveats, but excellent football on display. Decision making and execution in the final third way way above L1 level. Bring a fraction of that to the league and we'll do well. But they did make it easy for us, particularly after an hour or do when their heads were gone.

That’s a good thing.

Just means we have to win all our games 5-0

I could cope with that.

Wasn’t going to bother with the £10 “watch a crap midweek nothing game” but in the end did.

Twenty minutes after final whistle my internet crashed.

Now this morning I discover Royals TV took my tenner THREE TIMES!

I presume it’s ten quid but with a three goal limit

For all that our team was younger, I suspect that it was considerably more experienced. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if Dean had more first team appearances than the whole Exeter XI combined.

For all that we made 11 changes, most of that starting XI has League 1 starts this season. Mbengue, Dean, McIntyre, Carson, Vickers... etc.

What excites me the most is just how up for it we were and to the final whistle it would be so easy for us to treat this competition as a waste of our time. But I haven't seen a Reading side that enthusiastic and rampaging since Coppell.
