tmesis Don't potential owners need to show proof of funds, at very least?

He can probably do that if he has a consortium behind him.

Why would any consortium use him as a frontman?

Because they are fans of ZZ Top?

Not really (not at all tbh) relevant but I'm now a huge fan of early ZZ Top. Very bluesy. Give it a listen. Or not

This may be influencing me towards our new "owner"

Nah judging by his recent businesses and sponsorships, he is more ZZ Flop.

I remember seeing ZZ Top at the Bracknell jazz festival in about 1980 when I was about 15. Not a patch on what they did after.

Oh ok, we'll have to agree to disagree on ZZ Top's best period :D

Brogue

Hope not, like that Russian guy, never heard of him, never heard of his product and why can’t I find his product for sale anywhere. Amazon are out of stock.

Seems very dodgy, knowing our luck it’ll be a front for something dodgy

Hound To give him his dues he seems to have a fairly strong basic understanding and interest in football

Nothing else really of interest. Not too much else that I couldn’t have gone in and made up and probably sounded more convincing

Do suspect it’ll drag on for a while though sadly

It’ll be a Never Ending Storey…

Limahl will sing about him

Less takeover, more fakeover.

I take it SBWD are 100% behind his bid because he's said pretty much everything they demanded of a new owner.

Love the earlier stuff before they went all MTV but that's not to say the stuff from the early 80s onwards isn't any good!

I think everyone's completely missing the point. He looks much more like Rick Rubin than any either Dusty Hill or Billy Gibbons.

Actually completely undecided on him. He talks a good game but obviously needs to back that up with the relevant funds and action. He's had a lot of bad PR but that PR could just be a load of hot air BS as we do not know in every detail exactly what has gone before. There are concerns but the FL would presumably require him to give proof of funds and that he (and his backers) have the cashflow to be able to run a football club, which is a big part of the current problems.

But one positive is that he at least talks to people and gives interviews, even if it does prove to be bluster at least you can hear it from the horse's mouth rather than the current "chinese wall" of silence.

Never as good as Rainbow and Ritchie Blackmore.

Actually thought he came across quite well in the interview, answered all the difficult questions, however as many have said he needs to provide proof of financial backing from his investors

The thing about charlatans, is they're often good speakers and able to spin a convincing yarn.

It's part of the job description.

Exactly. And that's how many are able to become very wealthy, whilst leaving a string of failed businesses and unpaid creditors behind them.

As for Storey, those who thought he came across well and provided the answers required would do well to take note of the judge's assessment of him following the court case he lost re infringement of copyright.

Judge Melissa Clarke said: "I am satisfied that some of Mr Storey's evidence was incorrect or misleading and that he was involved in the manufacture of documents during the course of litigation to provide additional support for the defendants' case."

She added: "I do not accept either Mr Storey or Mr Kelly as credible or reliable witnesses and I treat all of their evidence with a high degree of caution."

I thought Charlatan already covered those bases.
