Winston Biscuit Apologies, but I am going to LOL a bit if we are bought by some lunatic American/Saudi's

From another lunatic American: Mega Millions was up over $700M last week, and I likely would have put my hat in the ring if I won. Alas...

windermereROYAL The sceptic in me says someone could have leaked this to take the heat off of the Bearwood debacle. bloody hope there`s some truth in it though.

Or, this was always the plan and Matt Slater's scoop ruined everyone's comms strategy. Eddie was rumouring these guys on Tuesday, so perhaps if they didn't want the training ground, it was always intended to do it simultaneously.

Slater probably had a contact with the party who missed out and only saw 1 side of the story.

There was a small discussion on here that selling the hugely expensive white elephant of a training ground could make the sale easier. Just no one trusts Dai for it to have been done with that intention

Other galaxy brain things I was thinking (hoping?)... could leaking the sale of a training ground alone actually encourage a buyer who wanted the training ground included to raise their bid or hurry up to close out a deal?

To confirm, has the ground been sold off or in talks to be alongside the takeover talks?

WestYorksRoyal Lots of Reading fans embarrassing themselves and doubling down on the abuse of Wycombe. I'm not saying they've done this out of the goodness of their heart to save Reading, but it does appear they've struck a mutually beneficial deal.

I thought the embarrassment came with 100 fans standing outside the Wycombe ground further enhanced by it being plastered all over SSN

The rumour is that this consortium is looking to buy the club and the ground, but that's all it is at the moment, a rumour.

SSN Twitter Reading are in advanced talks with a North American group to buy the club, Sky Sports News understands.

The prospective deal would see the club change hands and their ground – Select Car Leasing Stadium – would also be sold.

Just goes to show what an utter disgrace Dai is, if a deal to buy the club was indeed this close why sell the training ground to another club?

Rumour from a very reliable source though.

Interesting piece here about the guy who heads up sports.com.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/sports-c ... 00045.html

Wider reading about the company it comes across as being acquisitive initially.

But there are grounds for optimism there if they end up owning our club.

The guy has actually played football at a certain level and was until recently on the board at Newcastle. There is also some evidence that he has access or contacts relating to the Saudi PIF.

Food for thought I would say.

Let's see, can we buy your club, but we don't want to buy where the club trains. Yes that works.

Any why should any buyer want, or need DeLuxe, International-standard training facilities for a club that's possibly going to be playing against Barrow or Fleetwood next season?

I would guess there were 2 possibilities. First they didn't want to pay the £20m for Bearwood and that was holding up the deal - Earnshaw indicated the costs were a problem for a few buyers. Or they were waiting for liquidation to get the stadium on the cheap, now the training ground is sold they know that isn't going to happen any time soon.

Which is obviously a reasonable possibility, yet SBWD are out there "sticking it" to Dai and Wycombe  over the sale when, in essence, it's "presence" was otherwise scuppering the more important sale of club and ground and Dai selling it privately is doing everyone a favour.

The new owners will have the headache of finding somewhere to train, and defining what the youth policy will be (if any), but that's obviously much less important than having a club to have that headache over in the first place.

Hoping the better youth at the club (Tuma, Wareham etc.) remain as pros at the club for next season as it could be a very long time until the club are able to have youth teams again.

If only all the facts around it all could be out there and up front so everyone knows and could judge accordingly.

People have been crying out for us to be sustainable. Now a potential buyer is trying to buy us in a form with affordable costs, everyone is questioning it. If you buy Reading with Bearwood and everything, you need to stabilise as a Championship club quickly to make sense. Do we want owners who make that the cornerstone of their strategy, given a season can be ruin by injuries, referee performances and many other non controllables?

Such a shame Dai utterly ****** the club over with his crassly stupid spending on so many ill-fitting non-sellable players and completely **** managers. If only we could go back in time and give SJM a winning Euro Millions lottery ticket.

Looking forward the the American dream already (well for this weekend at least initially).

My ideal option would be for the new owners to buy Bearwood too, and if the ongoing costs were too high to close the academy. We still need somewhere to train and now those facilities are built there's no extra running cost over going somewhere else. Dai has spent a lot more than £20m on that infrastructure.
