Can't make up my mind if that is good news or bad news....

Or if they are having to check if they can actually use it.

Stranded Wycombe have just tweeted that they are putting on hold provision for funding to RFC and the acquistion of Bearwood.

"Wycombe Wanderers Football Club and Feliciana have to put on hold the discussions and ongoing due diligence due to seeming planning limitations allowing only Reading FC to use the training grounds."

Just shows the competence of everyone involved. Didn't think to check the planning permission early on?

OLLIE KEARNS
Stranded Why are people so fixated on the distance between the Wycombe ground and Bearwood?

Football players do not live at the stadium. For a number of them, it may be an easier commute to get to Bearwood than their current training ground and on matchdays players tend to make their own way to the stadium for games.

The only real questions are a) can they afford it and b) can they even use it.

More I look at it - a) only because a 3rd party seems to be buying it for them to use and b) probably only if we are able to use it too - probably as primary tenant.

Some info from the Wycombe end FWIW. The price is £25m, it’s a new investor believed to be from the Middle East as opposed to the current owner, both clubs will train at Bearwood going forward. If that is correct then the deal does make sense in many ways in that Wycombe seem to be at a dead end with their own training ground and League 1 sides can’t afford £25m training facilities in isolation.
That still leaves lots of open questions but the crux of the deal at least has some logic to it.

Is this published somewhere? Interesting if so and makes some sense. Would want us to get at least a three year commitment to stay there

Not sure I’d be convinced if I was a Wycombe fan that we won’t own it again solely at some point in the mid term future

I guess we lose the control of it, some of the space but also the ongoing costs. Would expect the new owner to do his/her best to monetise it in other ways - international teams and even some more local commercial use. Sounds ok

Who knows what it means for today's meetings. But taking a bigger picture view, it reinforces to Dai and Pang that our real estate is only worth something when sold with the club.

Oh

Well guess that’s very bad if the sale depended on us selling the training ground first.

Yes. Anyone competent might have investigated this first. Another pathetic chapter in the story of those two clowns

Wycombe look to be getting cold feet, they`ve put the Bearwood agreement on hold.

I am expecting this to scupper the sale, but really hope that’s not the case.

Be (morbidly) funny if the planning permission for Bearwood, presumably got under Dai's ownership scuppered the deal, which in turn scuppered tge club being bought and our survival.

From Despair To Where? Former Canadian international Marc Bircham, fronting a joint US/Saudi bid?

Allahu Akbar indeed.

Isn't HMRC due on Friday? Definitely short term issues caused by this, but hopefully a longer term win. Just adds to uncertainty right now.

On the plus side, we may not have the 2 suspended points hanging over our head by next Monday.

We'd at least know for certain where we stand on magic number.

The Bearwood deal was done back in 2013 I believe, well before Dai. That's not to say he hasn't sunk an awful lot of money in and made significant changes to the Thais' development plans. But, yes, a delicious irony in him switching ownership of it from RFC to himself, and only now realising that it's just RFC that can actually use it.

Possibly, but I doubt money would have been transferred by Friday this week anyway. Their statement said they'd only just entered due diligence.

There's something very strange about the whole thing and another chapter in this sad little soap opera.

Just guesswork that it could potentially baulk the sale, nobody outside of the clubs knows, stop panicking.

It’s a bit more than guesswork. It’s there in writing that it was for RFC use and Wycombe have said it’s on hold

It may still go through of course but there’s obviously concern that it may well not do so now
