Stranded Earnshaw tweeting that there are no meetings today, understands the offers are just with Dai and his people to make a decision.

So don't hold your breath.

RG30 If the Vikings do take over, does that mean we have to chant SKOL at every corner with an Icelandic clap?

Pepe the Horseman A lot of beggars being choosers over on Twitter today.

Also noticed that, saw some people yesterday saying about the German guy, if he wanted to bring London Irish back into the stadium, they wouldn't be for the takeover.  These people live in fantasy land.

Earnshaw is the only one who can be trusted. You'd think the ITKs would have learned by now that Dai is unpredictable and whatever their contacts have heard, it means next to nothing.

Yeh, also people dismissing the Vikings owners because they only want someone 100% focused on RFC.

The ITKs on Twitter are oxf*rd laughable. I have not seen most of them post anything before. Some now claiming there’ll be no news today, like we didn’t know that already. I must stop looking at it.

It's the media equivalent of crack or heroin. You know it's bullshit that's not good for your health but you just keep following.

pea The planning condition isn't the barrier people think it is, but it obviously adds a lot more risk for a purchaser who is trying to do something that is likely to attract significant local and political opposition (plus an inevitable 1-2 years worth of delays through the planning/appeal/possibly call-in process).

If sharing the facility 3/4 weeks a year during London NFL games (presumably) is the price to pay for keeping the club on its feet I wouldn't expect Wokingham Council to oppose a variation to it.

I would guess it comes down to the purpose of the clause.

Some of it it clearly so the land can't just be sold off for housing or some other large scale development.

In terms of local impact, it would make no difference if it was Reading or Wycombe players were training there, yet that scuppered the bid. Whether that was a case of the council objecting to the letter of the ruling not being followed, or just letting it be known they could make things awkward, remains to be seen.

If it was the former, then you'd think it'd also be difficult for it to be a part-time NFL training camp. If it's the latter, then it's possible, although you'd think they'd want to know before committing,

I am convinced that selling the training ground to Wycombe was one big ruse by Dai and the club, but who knows why.

The Wycombe owner intimated that himself and Earnshaw has just posted an article about it, in which a Wokingham Borough Councillor has said that they would probably not have turned down Wycombe’s request to use it.

Who knows if the rumors about the Vikings owners are true? For what it is worth, what we do know is that in the NFL Players Association's official report card, the Vikings players give them very high grades (2nd out of 32 NFL teams). https://nflpa.com/minnesota-vikings-report-card-2024

And they were 1st in 2023

rabidbee Leaving aside that the bill will fall after Rishi's shock calling of a GE next week, how likely do you think this would get through Parliament anyway?

Yeh the biggest risk to this Bill is time. There are about 14 sitting weeks left till the November election.

But given the opposition support the Bill it will be plain sailing.

If an election happens before it is passed it falls entirely. And i doubt a new football regulator is going to be at the top of Labour's agenda for passing legislation when it comes in. When you've been out of power for 14 years you have more pressing demands on your legislative time.

When you’ve been in power for 14 years and got the country into such an awful mess I doubt a new football regulator should be anywhere near the top of the agenda

You say this but what could be more important?

Brum Royal Presumably with the (expected) Labour majority post-election this will help move things along quicker/have more positive backing from the MPs

Labour do love a quango or two…

They call it creating jobs…..

A regulator will just add to costs - and maintain the status quo - and create another layer of jobsworths justifying their existence and creating nothing.

Wherever a Club is, when the regulator begins - is where they will stay.

Football is a worldwide market.

A regulator would (unless it had worldwide powers) drive money away from UK.

Football should be run by football - not by quangos and foreign owners with dubious records.

EFL should just ratify transfers and players’ wage costs - for every Club, based on last years accounts; adding in any special factors such as promotion or relegation.

It’s not that hard if there is a will to do so.

A new quango is rarely the answer to anything.
