What happens to the Academy if we get relegated to Division 2. Assume we lose Cat 1 status, but could a new owner afford to keep it going under FFP rules. We have some really good players in the academy we will need going forward

What is "division 2"?

Does it need another thread? I don't think academy costs count towards FFP, but a Cat 1 academy is in no way sustainable in L2 or even L1. In the Championship it saves you transfer fees and wages, plus players sold can easily go for £10m+. Not the case in L1/L2, where the benefits of it simply don't cover the cost.

So the question is whether a new owner would be willing to cover the costs in the short term with a view to it becoming a real asset in the Championship, or whether they cut cloth to whatever division we're in.
