Team / max points
15: Cambridge - 71
16: Burton - 72
17: Exeter - 70
18: Reading - 69 (67)
19: Charlton - 68
20: Port Vale - 68
.....................................
21: Shrewsbury - 68
22: Cheltenham - 67
23: Fleetwood - 61
24: Carlisle - 56

Still 30(32), but Cheltenham's loss moves us up a bit.

I make the Magic Number 27(29)
So it's improved by the equivalent of a win despite us losing, because of other results.

Edit: If Cheltenham and Vale lose their games in hand, the number drops top 20 (22) without us kicking a ball...

Hmmm, 21 (23), no? Didn’t think we were taking notice of GD in the thread.

If Cheltenham and Vale lose their games in hand, it falls to 15 (17).

It Burton and Cambridge who match us if they win games in hand. Cheltenham win theirs and they end up on 41, still below us. Vale would be 2 points further back.

hmmm.

but feels like the first time its lower than 3 * games left.

Rabids right and it's 21 with the 23 if points deduction applied, but the GD means you can effectively reduce it by one.

But it still gives us no leeway from maximum points for the moment.

Hopefully next season the magic number will be linked to staying in the promotion/playoff spots rather than avoiding relegation

Yeah, this.
Magic number then being the number of days the club needs to survive to have another season?

I've said elsewhere, but I'd call it a 4 and a half week countdown for exclusivity or bust.

You lot really are being mega careful aren`t you, it`s 15, no way are vale turning around a 22 goal difference to us in 7 games.

The magic number is mathematical certainty
15 isn’t

Telling us you don’t understand what a magic number is, without saying the words.
