I'm only going to make one assumption, and that's that the takeover happens. As if it doesn’t there may not be a next season to predict.

Knowing nothing more about players we keep, players we lose, who we may sign etc., I think top half is a reasonable starting expectation for next season given what we've seen this year. But with a good summer hopefully we can be making top 6 prediction come August.

Snowflake Royal Not every likely contender is confirmed yet. So early days. But I remember 4-4-2 had us down at about 20/1 for the title in 05/06.

I remember the Reading FC magazine (remember that?) had a full list with us being mid-table ahead of that season. Just shows how underestimated that team was, making the achievement even more impressive.

I remember going into that season very confident. Not 106 Champions confident, but good chance of promotion confident.

I remember the reaction beingfairly positive. Played well. Unlucky late winner. Harper actually landed some tackles. New guys looked decent.

I remember thinking that new guy Doyle looks promising, I think we’ll do alright this season. Then we won at Brighton and I knew we’d do well.

I remember losing 3-0 at home to Wimbledon and radio Berkshire being bombarded with calls demanding SC out. :(

I guess it depends on whether you filter out the usual muppets or not.

The archived match report on here certainly paints a disappointed but promising picture.

That would be the boxing day defeat in the run of 3 0-3s in a row when Coppell said he had no idea what was wrong.

We were absolutely abject that day. So no surprises people were unhappy.

While I think we're all a lot more positive now, especially with the takeover looking likely, seems crazy to have one of the highest odds in the league.

Just waiting for Oxford, Peterborough, Barnsley and Doncaster to be confirmed now (could be 3 trips to S. Yorkshire, (Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham) not had that for quite a while).

Seems like Barnsley will be confirmed tonight - 2-1 down on the night at half-time against Bolton (5-2 down on aggregate).

How many f*cking chances do Barnsley need? Bolton look a shambles at the back.

Too many as it turns out. Bolton didn't half make it difficult for themselves in the second half; still think they'll win these play-offs.

Crawley played well and won their delayed first leg 3-0, with Liam Kelly getting the MOTM award. Crawley’s goalkeeper had some interesting ideas!

Now, as long as they don't approach the 2nd leg thinking they've already won through, we should all be able to appreciate the dumping out of the franchise.
