Kelvin v Cambridge for me, but Wing has scored some crackers.

I prefer his goal vs Northampton; Henry-esque.

Context also matters. His goal against Cambridge was a speculative hit of the ball when we were 3-0 up, whereas his goal against Northampton was a very skilful finish and a match winning moment.

I know it's been said before, but surely, in terms of best goals
this must be the best season ever? Every goal would challenge
top spot in an average year.

There’s a long list of goals from 05/06 that would like a word

I’ve not been to many games but the one goal that will stay with me for a long time was the comedy goal from the Cheltenham away game….

Really tough choice but I went with Femi Azeez volley against Charlton. The technique + the meteoric rise from scapegoat to talisman.

I think I'd pick Wing's goal away to Fleetwood.

There is a fabulous ball deep towards the right corner
for Azeez. I can't see the passer. Is it Knibbs?

Azeez does well, feeds Savage who knows Wing is coming.

Savage lays it back and Bang!

I like it because it's a team goal as well as a fine finish.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

PS Anyone noticed how many of our goals come from
a three-yard circle just outside the D?

Hendo Kelvin v Cambridge.

Yeah, same. The shot itself is on a par with a lot of the best strikes. What makes it is the first touch from a crisp pass that creates the space to make shot, catching the defence unawares. Beautiful.

Wing vs Port Vale second, because he's so far out and being challenged.

Azeez second volley in the box for third.

Yeah, I’d go along with that for a top 3. The only one I’d consider bringing in is Wing vs Fleetwood, purely because that one was a first time hit.

One of Kelvin's.

Cambridge - knew what he was doing, pointing to where he wanted it played, made the space, bang.
Northampton - adjusted to the ball clipping the defender's heel, nice trick, lovely curl, involved in the build up.

Think Northampton edges it.

I think Glen Little's chip may be the best Reading goal of my lifetime (I'm too young to possibly comment on Friday v Tranmere).

Blakey was ridiculous
He wasn’t particularly quick but could tie opponents in knots almost without moving
God, I miss those days

Some players are worth the entrance fee by themselves. I met some Burnley fans on the train to an away game once and they put Blakey in that category in what was otherwise a mediocre era for them.

That we got to see him in a good team surrounded by similarly skilful players was an absolute joy. I'm sure we'll have many more ups and downs over the years, but you wonder if we'll ever see anything like that again.
