Andre Garcia Departs For Belgium [Reading FC] Andre Garcia Exit

Reading Football Club can confirm that Andre Garcia has departed to join Belgian side Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old had been at the club for more than a decade and rose through the ranks to have a crucial role in the first team over the past 18 months.

While still a scholar, the wide man made 56 appearances for the club and scored twice, becoming among the most prominent teenagers in the club’s history.

He will join the likes of Michael Olise, Danny Namaso Loader and Nelson Abbey as graduates of our prestigious Academy now playing across the Continent.

We wish Andre all the best on his adventure in Europe, with Club Brugge regulars in the Champions League and 19-time winners of the Belgian Pro League.

Best of luck to Andre. Incredible to think all his appearances at the club came when he was a scholar.

Yep, had some decent games amongst our ‘troubled times’ we relied on him.
Good luck to the lad, FC Brugge is a big step-up (and no-doubt a decent sell-on clause)

Isn’t the rumoured fee £350k? Probably not too bad for an ooc young player in the summer. Presumably will fall under FIFA’s compensation scheme and solidarity payments which should see “bonus bundles” for Reading every time he’s sold on.

Based on their website, he's going into their 'Club NXT' programme (their U23s). They play in the Challenger Pro League (the second division in Belgium), so that seems to be an appropriate level for him to begin with and hopefully one where he'll get a good amount of game time.

Again yep, sounds perfect for his progression, and it’s not as if he’s had no experience of being thrown in at the deep end

3½ year contract. Gives him time to establish himself and get sold for a shit ton of money.

Shame. There was a spark about him that I liked. That he could play on the wing as well as fullback gave us options too. I'm not really sure which games - if any - led to him falling out of favour to the degree we'd bin him off, but all the best to him. Will always be remembered for being one of our postal workers in Danzig.

Yes, I suggested it should be removed from the homepage. Pointless having the link

Leam Richardson on Garcia departure:

“Fundamentally you want to have players who want to be at the club. Andre told me in a matter of hours that I was at the club that he didn’t want to be here come the end of the season.”

Would almost certainly be why he dropped out of the team this season. Shame as we could've got more for him in the summer, but at least we got money for him and a sell on fee.
