Alf Garnett is alive and well in West Ham.

by Jerry St Clair » 01 Oct 2006 20:29

Exhibit A: A group of West Ham fans walking up to the ground from the tube. One, reading his programme says, "Oh god, have you seen who the ref is"? His mate responds in the negative to which the other responds "I'll give you a clue, he's a big blackie......".

Exhibit B: The complete tool seated in the Chicken Run who thought it would be hilarious to make a stereotypical Chinese gesture (you know, hands in praying position, following by a slight bow and protruding your teeth in a buck-tooth "ah-so" type gesture) everytime Seol went over to take a throw or corner. In full view of police and stewards who did fukk all about it.

Well, in true Alan Partridge style, sir, Seol Had The Last Laugh.

I thought Neanderthals died out 40,000 years ago? Pardjudas and West Ham fans clearly don't spoil a pair.

Makes you wonder how they talk about their own team members. No doubt they are recalling the Falklands war, at the same time blaming Argentina for their ungraceful fall down the table.

That area maybe, but less so all the Essex towns that these knuckle dragggers have moved out to, leaving the East End to do what it always has, welcome and integrate the next wave of the world's downtrodden.

Yep, West Ham are not an East End club anymore. Most of their support now resides in places like Southend and the New Towns up the M1 (Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, Milton Keynes etc).

Judging by the queue for the tube, hardly any of their support is local.

Steady chap - not ALL Essex towns are full of knuckle draggers!

Although to be fair Epping really has gone down hill these last few years - thank you SO much Warden Housing Association

I seem to recall comments on here after we played Wolves once about eating dogs and stuff. Its not on....but certain members of this board were just as bad about Seol. IIRC someone was thrown out for something during wolves too?

To be fair, "he's a big blackie" is a pretty good clue and his mate would almost certainly have been able to guess the identity of the referee from said description.

Mrs Butler Seol song  never heard before but that is funny although took a while for me to get, the bit about the labrador

Please tell me that RoyaLOLs fans did not direct a racially abusive song at one of our own players.

na it wasnt....

He'll shoot, he'll score, he'll eat your labrador... Seol Ki-Hyeon... Seol Ki-Hyeon

probly wouldn't throw something racial at the hero of the game. i think we all loved seol today and the tune isn't meant to be threatening

I must put my hands up and admit to be a racist during the game today. When Carlton Cole was moaning to the ref about a decision I derided him verbally and loudly whilst thinking he was Marlon Harewood. The chap next to me kindly pointed out that he was in fact Carlton Cole, they all look the same to me was my reply.

Can I just add to this by stating that not all Alf Garnetts live in the East End or are even, in fact, male?

On the tube back, it was naturally very crowded and we were stood next to a group of 4 pissed up Reading - two older men and two lads of about 15 - and two young women who had nothing to do with the football at all.

Several stops down the line, two African women got on, in full "Sunday" dress and with a suitcase each. One of them was clearly mentally handicapped and was being guided by the other. As they got on, the two older Reading men laughed out loud and started whistling " Camptown Races" and nudging the younger lads to take note. This continued throughout the journey although the women were only on for two or three stops before they got off at Whitechapel, whereupon the "ringleader" of the group loudly declared "ooh, look, Whitetown".
Meanwhile, the younger African woman had had to squeeze in next to the two women, who spent their time looking up and down disdainfully at the African women and passing whispered comments which caused each other to shriek with laughter. After they had got off, these two munters started to converse louder and louder, along the lines of "I don't get it? What was she? Some kind of witch? I thought she was going to turn me orange" etc etc.

Fcuking disgusting behaviour - makes you feel proud to be part of the human race, doesn't it?

yeah, that's right, people that are that ignorant always respond positively to a gentle prompt on how to behave decently.

That doesn't mean that you can't be bold enough to put them in their place. If more people did so that we might go some way to ridding the world of their overt obnoxiousness.

Absolutely disgraceful. If only you took off your blinkers you'd easily be able to tell them apart. Harewood's the one that can play football.

Sometimes people need to be reminded of their own ignorance - if others keep quiet it gives them a belief that their opinions are acceptable.

In the early, Burns years, at the Mad I was leaving an evening game (a pitiful crowd of about 8,000 IIRC) when this lad queuing down the steps to get out started complaining about "the number of blacks in the team, that's why we're rubbish". I pointed out that his view was idiocy and that he was a twat. He looked genuinely horrified. I followed him (not intentionally, you understand) back to the speedway car park and he barely said another word all the way back.
