Best Reading goal?

by Coppelled Streets » 04 Jun 2007 16:56

Now that's a tough question?

Dylan Kerr's belter with the outside of his left foot was a great goal and favourite here. The South Bank went wild when that went in and I remember falling forward 15 or so rows and not finding any of my lot until we got back to the pub after the game.

Lee Nogan's well taken goal at Wembley was one of the finest goals you'll see anywhere IMO. Great skill and a cool finish. Still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

Andy Hughes from about 30 odd yards at Molineux is also worth a mention. The silence from the home ends was

Robin Friday scoring 'that' goal.
I never got to see it but even the ref stopped and applauded the man!
I wish I could have seen the great man play for us.

Friday for me, but what's your favourite?

How can you say Friday if you didn't see it?

There is no right or wrong answer as it's an opinion surely based on goals you've seen?

For me it is Kitson at Bradford, Little v Plymouth, Sidwell at Leicester and Forster at Sheffield United, oh and FOzzie's goal v PReston at home when he totally murked their whole side before scoring. Actually any Forster goal because it generally involved him running past 5 players.

Hodges v Oldham (i think) was a bit good.

Going for Kitson's overhead kick at Bradford. That was special.

Let's not forget Keith Scott's magnificent and totally out of character goal - home to ?Bradford?Oldham? or someone like that.

Kerr v Stoke/Blackpool

Nicholls v Bristol Rovers

Both spring to mind.

Edit: Simon Osborn at Charlton mentioned....I'd forgotten that one!

There are quite a few. In no particular order:

Lee Nogan at Wembley v Bolton
Leroy Lita's overhead kick v Crystal Palace
Leroy Lita's lob v West Brom in the FA Cup
Glen Little's chip at Plymouth two seasons back.
Simon Osborn's cracker at Charlton Athletic
Simon Osborn's chip at Oldham
Jimmy Quinn's volley v Plymouth
Jamie Cureton's "dipper" at Watford
Nicky Forster's cracking shot at Sheffield United
Dylan Kerr's curler at Blackpool

To name a few!

That is difficult, didn't see 'that goal' by friday, but a couple of suggestions and I prepare to be laughed at  Glen Little's goal at plymouth and the 70 yard run by hughesy at wigan  - anyone remember that.

Bradford in the League Cup. Last game for Tommy Burns, I think?

No, that's the Oldham Athletic 5-0 thumping, Sammy Igoe scored a cracking one in that game.

Robin Friday - referee was Clive Thomas. I was stood on the Tilehurst End behind the goal and CT just stood with his hands on his head in disbelief. Best goal ever - absolutely.

Wasn't that claimed by Darius Henderson as he attempted to "block" the defender's clearance?

Still funny!

Oh, right, for some reason I was thinking of the own goal by a Notts County defender, who headed the ball back to his keeper. Only that the keeper wasn't where the defender thought he was and the ball sailed over him into the net.

Now thinking about it, wasn't the County defender's surname Richardson or something?
