Not fussed. I just hope we pick up at least 6 points from the first 5 games and push on from there.

Does anyone know when the Champions League 3rd round qualifiers are? Arsenal and Liverpool had to postpone their midweek games in the opening week of the season due to this.

Just in case we ended up with either of them in the midweek game, or possibly the bank holiday monday game.

Uncle Andy There is no way to realistically predict the opposition, but I think it will go:

11/12 Aug - Away
14/15 Aug - Home
18/19 Aug - Home
25/26 Aug - Away (Reading Festival)

Is there some kind of deal with the police where any big events (e.g. Reading Festival) do not clash with a home game?

Yes.

Due to us being in the Prem the police presence at a game is bigger particularly in the town centre. As they are alreasy stretched by the festival we play away that weekend.

14/15 August, which is why I've requested one of them at home that day

Excellent!

Now I just want an away game on the first weekend of the season to avoid clashing with my holiday, unless it's on Sunday/Monday.

Unless the PL have changed the way they set out the fixtures we will be away on the first day.

Didn;t last season start a week late or somethng becaasue of the world cup ?

Not sure why that would change anything, just a thought !

Presumably half the teams have a home game first though ?

I quite fancy a trip to Wigan, big allocation, piss easy by train, ticket prices are fantastic value for money and a genuine chance of picking up 3 points.

Yep, so weekend before the festival we need to be at home again so we should be away opening weekend.

It won't be Fulham or Newcastle as apparently they meet at Craven Cottage on the opening day.

So the bank holiday game could also potentially be hit.

I reckon we'll get Derby away as the first game of the season. We stuffed Preston away 3-0 in our Championship record-breaking™™™™ season© and Billy Davies was their manager. Bring em on!!!
Then Wet Sham at home for our first home game. They will be so overeager to get revenge for their last drubbing we'll just go and do it again. Great psychological advantage IMHO.

Top of the league!!!
