First 8 Games

by Philly Flyer » 01 Aug 2007 04:01

Now I know that it's just Aug 1st and the transfer window remains open for another month, but given that SC has said he will probably only sign another central midfielder and maybe a winger (to replace Seol, possibly) it looks like our squad is pretty much set until January.

Here's what I think will happen from Aug 12th to the beginning of October.

Man U (A) L
Cheatski (H) D
Everton (H) D
Bolton (A) D
Wet Sham (H) W
Sunderland (A) D
Wigan (H) W
Pompey (A) D

That'll give us 11 points which, based on last season's performances, would put us 9th or 10th in the PL. Tough start but I really believe we can manage just a single defeat in the first 8 games so we would be solid mid table with an easier run in to Christmas to come. Other views??

I love the way that sounds! But we aren't the 'drawing' sort. (Only 7 all last season, so getting 5 in the first 10 games would be surprising).
Here is how I see it:
Man U (A) L
Chelsea (H) L
Everton (H) W
Bolton (A) D
West Ham (H) W
Sunderland (A) W
Wigan (H) W
Pompey (A) L

That puts us at 13 points, probably still around 8th and ready to make our move! 8) So no worries if we lose the first two to the big two. Coppell will keep the boys focused and we will overcome the seemingly shaky start.

Utd sometimes have a very slow start. Chelsea are crap (and we have sussed them now). So 6 points from the first two games!!

We could just as easily be on 0 points after the first four games.

I think we'll lose the first 5 games.

I think we will draw more games than we did last year because we will miss the creativity of Little and the drive of Sidwell.
Hopefully we will draw more against the better clubs and continue our fine record of beating the lesser clubs.
After 8 games I expect us to have around 8 points.

9 pts and a lot of people getting nervous and having a go when we don't win a game for the first month.

9 points, but I'm being highly optimistic.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We can get a run together Bolton onwards - imo, they're all winnable. I just don't think we will.

depends if we lose any key players

Man U (A) L
Chelsea (H) L
Everton (H) D
Bolton (A) W
West Ham (H) L
Sunderland (A) D
Wigan (H) W
Pompey (A) L

8 points

But if we lose Shorey and Lita and not get suitable players in it could be a lot worse than that.

I've got a cold and feel like oxf*rd sh*t so feeling pessimistic.

When I feel better I will think we can win them all.

Man U (A) Draw
Cheatski (H) Lose
Everton (H) Draw
Bolton (A) Win
Wet Sham (H) Win
Sunderland (A) Lose
Wigan (H) Win
Pompey (A) Draw

That gives us 12 points, well ahead of the 8.4 points we need to achieve to be on target for 40 points.

11/24, no reason we can't give united and chelsea a go either, we did last season and we represented ourselves well against lyon + river
