A trialist involved in behind-closed-doors fixture

by ScottishRoyal » 21 Aug 2007 13:26

The OS reports were are currently playing a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackurn's reserve side. My first impressions was that this was a game to keep Kits and Cisse match fir whilst serving their suspensions but the minute by minute updates report that we have a trialist playing. Any ideas as to who this might be?

Not a clue. Seems strange that they do not give his name and just call him 'trialist'

Are they just referring to him as 'the trialist' ? Is a bit bizarre if they are !

They are. Maybe the bloke doing the updates just doesn't know who he is.

Not surprising though tbh, openly coming out with the name of a player we have on trial would just alert other clubs of the players availability and push up his wages if a bidding war was to ensue (presuming he breaks the mould of trialists and is actually worth taking on!).

Indeed, i would have thought anyone who needs to be given a trial is unlikely to already have a club or command a fee !

He's either a young foreigner trying his luck or an old pro who was released last summer and is still trying to find a club.

He won;t be a current French international !

I was thinking more along the lines of wages, I agree it is unlikely the player currently has a club.

offical text service has just said that a triallist left winger played the last 30 mins

Simon Cox scored only goal Kitson and Cisse both played 90 and Nam Taehee played the last 10

Must be confident of signing him if they're talking about him on the text service

A bit disappointing as we already have Hunt, Convey and Bozanic.

Probably means it's a youngster we'll never hear of again!

Is it not looking good for little Bobby?

Practically begging to be involved against Chelsea and not even on the bench, nothing against Everton either.

Now off to America for an international he isn't fit for.

I wonder if his days here are numbered.

Yep nothing, apart from him making his first apperance in a Reading shirt for ages when coming on for the last 10mins or so.

I don't use the text service, obviously, so was this just one sentence text saying 'a trialist is involved' or was it a match report containing that?
