Halls

His positioning is woeful, his dribbling is woeful, his pace is woeful, his tackling is woeful, but..........

He can certainly cross a ball

I was just moaning that he should be taken off to allow Henry to play, and then he scored!

I thought Halls had his best game for Reading.

Maybe just maybe we can make a player out of him as he seems to be improving, even if it is at a very slow rate.

Thought he was gash all game, except once when he moved into the middle and released Long with a very nice park (which Long couldn't control, same as almost every other time he had the ball tonight).

For a defender his tackling and tracking back are laughable.

Dreadful. But on the TV he actually didn't look as bad as I thought he did on the pitch. Still dreadful though.

Didn't think he was as bad as suggested here but I am at a loss as to quite where John Halls is supposed to play...midfield? defence? no idea..

Ummmmmmm!!!!!! Stoke in the championship when he scored
Liverpool in the league cup last year and Swansea in round 2 this year of carling cup.

These are probably his three big games for us and a load of reserve games.

What was the point in starting Halls over Henry?

A promising youngster or the guy who's what, sixth choice right back?

His performance was ok, but it's irrelevant. Tonight was treated as a squad game, the result was not all that important. Halls is not gonna be here next season. What has playing him achieved? I've defended Coppell not picking youth players before, but what chance have they got if Coppell is gonna pick senior players over them every time.

Golbourne as well. Fine Shorey is a much better player, but there's a very strong possibility Shorey will be gone in January and this was our last chance to play Golbourne in the first team without the result mattering.

Coppell lost a bit of respect from me when he played Sodje over Pearce then Sodje left the next day.

with regard to your point on Halls and golbourne i agree with your point totally. I do think Halls played reasonably well tonight, and again Shorey was fine. Personally Henry and Golbourne would have played in my team tonight.

A bit harsh his crosses were top draw took his goal well. Remember who he was up against tonight and that's his first game of the season.
I think a loan spell to a Championship club could be what he needs?
