Archie's penalty
2 world wars, 1 world cup I always likes skittles.

My main memory of him: at home against PNE with my PNE supporting mates. I predicted 2-2 and told them to watch out for skittles especially.

Half time, 2-0 down and they mockingly commented "Oh I suppose Martin T'Williams is gonna score two goals to make it 2-2 eh?"

Which is of course exactly what happened.

Never looked so smug, haha.

Thank you Martin Williams!

But why was he called Skittles?

He came in every colour of the rainbow.

Adam Bygrave (half of the finest centre back pairing in English Youth Football) is at Histon, having previously played for Weymouth.

bluehoops Oh, and that Lambert 'wondergoal' - the reaction from the Southbank "He's sh#t, but he's scored a goal" must have come across loud and clear on the Sky feed. Happy days.

That goal was used for Sky Footballs openng credits for some time after...

Because he had a tendancy to fall over whenever hit by a ball.

Has it been mentioned that Mark Nichols was on the bench for his new club, Beaconsfield, against Didcot at the weekend?

To quote the original post, 2-2 draw with goals from Neil Smith and Keith Scott

Bas Savage netted again for Tranmere yesterday - he is being talked about as potential Player of The Season on their boards...

"Who needs Torres???
We've got BAS SAVAGE!!!
Nananana...."

"...the goal was superb as was Savage's extended moonwalk/dance thingy.."

"Quality hair! Quality result!"

Watched Windsor & Eton -v- Wycombe Wanderers tonight. 4-0 to WW.

Michael Duberry played 2nd half and did exactly what you'd expect - cleared most things with his head, commanded the defence pretty well and kicked the ball into touch a couple of times when trying to pass to a team-mate.

The thing that struck me was how fit and slim he looked. He really did look like he had lost a stone since last season.

Maybe he has, but he looked no different on Monday.

From The Bournemouth Echo...

DEFENDER Pete Castle has left Bashley to join high-flying Southern League Division One South and West outfit AFC Totton.

The ex-Reading centre-half made 131 appearances for the New Forest club, scoring nine goals, in a productive spell.

“He did well for Bashley and it is a new challenge for him, and we wish him all the best,” said Bash assistant boss Chris Ferrett.

http://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/sport/l ... the_Blues/

I may have watched his last ever game as a Pro when he turned out for WW against Windsor & Eton in the Bucks & Berks Invitational Trophy. (Actually you'd imagine he'd get a League 2 club if he wants to play at that level, but I suspect he might be focusing on coaching now...)

As you'd imagine he looked very calm and controlled both in defence and in possession, and was coaching the youngsters as the game progressed, but his passing forward left something to be desired. (It was amusing to spot his personal Reg plated Aston Martin in the car park alongside a lot of more ordinary vehicles. Guess he must be set up for life now if he doesn't blow it on something daft.)
