holsgrove breaks a leg -looking back at the 7-4's 4-2's 3-0's early on in the season angers me from the point of few of several posters who applauded that we lost in such a fashion.....

Which particular fashion would you rather we had lost in?

I'm assuming 1-0s or 2-1s would have been better for our goal difference, even if they were not as entertaining.

The pursuit of actual points is far more important than goal difference - we had a never say die approach last season that did us proud, and were trying to replicate that this season; we consequently had some heavier defeats than perhaps necessary, but hell, an enteratining loss where we've had a real go at the opposition is far preferable to a narrow loss where we've played cautiously in my book.

I'd prefer a dull, undeserve, lucky 1-0 win, tbh.

Was that an option in the "7-4's 4-2's 3-0's early on in the season" mentioned by HBALeg?

You probably have a point that I have missed, but I would sooner we had gone to Portsmouth, for example, shut up shop, and tried to snatch a 1-0.

We would still have lost. At least we were giving it a go - the mentality back then was positive, carried over from last season.

That approach gained us points during the last 2 seasons (not many this season I'll grant you) whereas when we set ourselves up for a shut-up-shop performance it just doesn't work for us (apart from Day 1).

the 7-4s and the 4-2s made oxf*rd all difference to our season

defeats at home to fulham and bolton are what will get us relegated

those 6 points would have seen us safe tonight

The 7-4, 6-4, 3-0's, etc were irrelevant. Only one result really mattered in the end: Reading 0 Fulham 2.

edit: as mentioned a few seconds ago by weybridge
