It is one man's fault

by winchester_royal » 03 May 2008 20:37

And that man is Steve Coppell

1. He decides we need no investment in the summer

2. He decides we need no investment in the winter

3. His subs are too late

4. His team selection is crap

5. He has personal vendettas against certain people

6. He has love affairs with others

If we go down it is his fault, some will blame the chairman, but the money has always been there.....it is coppell who has refused to spend it

When all's said and done, next season we'll be in a weaker position squad-wise than we were when he took over.

That's false. If you'd have said weaker squad than the one we went up with then you would have a point. The team now is miles better than the one from 2003.

Sadly I agree with Winchy, it is Copps fault where we are in the league, and it is up to him and his players to rescue us from disaster, and it was also him that took us to these dizzy heights, and for that I shall be eternally grateful, is it time for him to go at the end of the season, who knows, but I have posted before, that I think it is, and I also think that we should find him a permanant football position at RFC. The man is almost as much as a legend as the late great Maurice Evans, and to keep people like that at our club is a valuable resource.

Time for another beer

I'm not so sure it is - Hahnemann's getting on, Murty over the hill, no Sidwell, if Bikey leaves we'll have no centre backs really, no Shorey either in all likelyness.

well I think that rather depends on who is here next season.

The squad that he took over wasn't good enough to go up, and other than sidwell, they team that took us up is still here. Even allowing for age, how many of Newman, Brown, Murray, Hughes and Goater (with supersubs like Mackie and Henderson)* would you want instead of our current squad?

* from Coppell's first match.

On paper yes. Unfortunately we will be a team playing very low in confidence

The point was 'our squad is weaker than it was in 2003' nothing to do with confidence, current form or waht have you. The squad lists between now and 2003 aren't comparible. The current team is streets better.

New manager required - needs to do something when game plan is exposed as weak and no other answers provided

Very hard to do when you can only call on what you have, any mistakes have been in the past surely?

Give or a take a few players Steve Coppell has used the same players that got us high in the league last season, i blame the players more than coppell.

That's just it - Coppell has the players to get us out of this mess, he's just refused to use them.

Convey is a far better foil for Shorey on the left, Cisse is stronger defensively than Harper and would partner Matejovsky efficiently. However, week after week the manager prefers to pick his favourites even though they aren't doing the business, which makes it even more unforgivable that we're going down.
