Colin's back

by Uke » 14 Jul 2008 14:31

Daily Voice of Middle Class England THE Championship clash between Reading and Crystal Palace on August 30 should have X-certificate action in the technical area. Not only do Palace boss Neil Warnock and Reading coach Wally Downes dislike each other following a series of altercations, Warnock, a guest on Test Match Special at Lord's yesterday, has invited his biographer and esteemed Daily Mirror chief sports writer Oliver Holt to sit with him at the Madejski. That should be enough to wind up Downes, who picked a fight with Holt at the Football Writers awards dinner last May.

Reckon he's scared of us?

Is Warnock suspended and sitting in the stands ?

Holt wouldn't be allowed to sit in the Palace dugout so this sounds an odd story, there's no reason why Dowens would bump into Holt is there ?

After the stuff that Holt has written about Madesjki I wouldn't be surprised if Madejski refused Holt entry to the ground. Madejski doesn't appear to be someone who takes criticism in the media too lightly.

No. I reckon he's trying to wind us up (no shit sherlock). Not sure the players would care all that much, or indeed Wally. Stuffing them on the pitch will do nicely thank you very much.

One of the best things about being in the Championship - having the opportunity to do the double over Colin!

Why not? Palace can have who they want on their bench surely?

I hadn't heard of Downes confronting Holt though.

I read a while back that Downes laid into Holt at some sportsman dinner. I would hazard a guess that after that altercation, Holt will be keeping a very low profile! As I'm now so over Simon Jordan, I hope we fecking stuff 'em.

Or we could just have our memories wiped at the end of every season !

I still remember Ron Futcher, George Cain, Jason McAteer etc etc etc.

I'm not obsessive but isn't football at least partly about petty grudges ?

At least we don't sign songs about disasters that happened 50 years ago or think we're a big club becasue we won the cup back in the days when there was a bit of string instead of a cross bar !

but there's nothing to be bitter about is there?
pity would be more apt, the number of times we have beaten his teams over the last few years.

I hate Simon Jordan, but as long as people keep pissing him off we might not have to see is arrogant mug for much later - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 499205.stm

Last paragraph: "It really is making me consider my position in football because the one thing that kept me focused in my time at Palace is producing my own players - but what's the point?"

Ollie and Colin. Good. Let's beat them.

If Hunt stays, let's ask Petr Cech to sit on our bench- assuming he's not playing for Chavski at the time.

I must miss this game!

Does anyone know of a bar in San Fransico that will be showing this game on some dodgy cable channel? This specific game from the Championship...
