Well that's the target man, can't play a season without a 6footer unless you pass the ball like Arsenal. Got to be able to mix it up, some of those crosses begged to be buried Saturday but we didn't have that 'Kitson type' to nod em in!

Gut feeling is Mooney will be a Doyle and not a Bennett and will do well here.

If we take advantage of Cork's perilous position to swoop in and pick up a bargain, I would hope that some credit filters back to the otherwise much-maligned business side of the club.

I think he would be a quality signing, just gives us a few more options up front, and a bit on an unknown quantity again, that we used to have.

Agreed with the above. £200k is a measly investment from Doyle's apparent transfer, but Mooney appears to be what we don't have, physically at least. Let's just hope we haven't bought what will turn out to be a 'lower leagues plodder'.

5 oirishes now until Doyle goes. We'll be relocating to Cork soon.

I think we need some kind of chant to accomodate our Irish contingent.

'Reading Irish, Reading Irish - oh oh - oh oh' repeat to fade?

An East Stand 'Riverdance' will suffice.

One of my CCFC mates said this:

Yeah I think Doyle is as good as gone now. Mooney isn't anywhere near as good I think, although he probably is a more natural goalscorer and he's only been playing professionally since he came to Cork City so there is big room for improvment. He will turn out to be a good signing I think.

Seems like our directors handled this deal very badly, no sell on clauses and they didn't even consult our manager on the deal.

I saw him live at UCD v Cork and he scored the only two goals against a poor team. From what I saw he is pretty handy in the air although will not be dominant. Without the most amount of movement I thought he played his position really well, peeling off defenders well and making some decent off the ball runs. The finishes were good and his record shows the lad can clearly finish with both head and feet.

If Doyle goes it will probably show that Coppell thinks he is virtually ready to step up now - if Doyle stays it probably show he needs a bit of time and was considered a bargain/worth the risk.

i know all about the lad....to be honest all he's got is a finish, he's weak aswell, he reminds me of roy o donavan minus the pace, doesn't have doyle's all round game....it'll take him at least a year to adapt...if i could point to an english version of mooney it would be someone like john aldridge or gary lineker, an out and out poacher, doesn't really get involved in build up play, doesn't link play, will score goals against weak teams, that's about it really, a good bench option, nowehere near ready to replace doyler yet, like i said another roy o donovan who sunderland have loanded to dundee untied coz he wasn't making an impact
