injury/suspension situation

by LUX » 28 Jan 2009 10:05

Rosenior has two games suspension left I think?

Will Bikey, Ingi, Doobs, Noel and Lita be fit for Saturday?

QPR is a difficult place to go this season (Brum and Wolves both lost there).

ok, good news.

But I'd like more cover in defence.

I should add "deeefence" and ask about USA too.

Of the main first team squad...

Rosenior received a 1 game ban for 2 yellow cards. He will be available for the visit to QPR.

Ivar Ingimarsson has a knee problem which the club are assessing therefore diagnosis and time out are as yet unknown. But as he hasn't trained this week chances are he'll miss QPR

Michael Dubeery required stiches for a cut to his eyelid. As the injury was in such a awkward place the club didn't want to risk it breaking open whenever he went up for headers again therefore he was substituted. My guess is he should be OK for QPR

Bikey has recovered from his injury but needs match practice as he's only returned to training this week. He'll be available for Saturday but whether selected fore the squad remains to be seen

Leroy Lita dislocated his shoulder last night but Jon Fearn managed to snap it back into place and Leroy played on the remaining few minutes so I would imagine he should be OK for selection depending on how the "injury" reacts this week.

Lita's dislocation is a puzzling one - I always thought the bruising and muscle damage of a dislocation automatically put a player out for a couple of months. Obviously not.

I've not personally got any qualms about Alex Pearce playing at QPR, so we need only one of Doobs, Bikey or Ingi to be fit. Or Bryn can come in and do a job.

Leave Cisse and Pearce at the back...bring Tabb in to midfield with Harper...Rosey in for Kelly...job done...

I thought Noel Hunt just had cramp. His problem seems to be that he puts so much effort in right from the kick off that he runs out of steam at around 60 minutes....... He needs to pace himself a bit better.

That's where Tony Rougier took it too far.

Looked to me like a calf niggle - he pulled up suddenly with it.

But perhaps our game plan is to only play him for 60 or so minutes - so he can be flat-out for all of that time and then be knackered. With two strikers on the bench that's fine - why pace himself for 90 minutes if he knows he's only going to play 70 or so?

I've dislocated my shoulder twice, playing rugby.

First time there was an ambulance to hospital, painkilling injection and relocated in A&E. Bruising was absolutely awful and I couldn't play for about six weeks iirc. Second time the ref popped it straight back (although I didn't play on - well done Leroy!) and I was sore for just a few days.

I'd imagine QPR will be too soon but he should, if he reacts the same way, be available for Preston.

I think there were two things wrong with Hunt. He was looking ropey early in the second half - I even wondered if he'd got concussed again (may just have been tiredness). Then he did pull up suddenly immediately before signalling to the bench that he needed to come off. Minor pull of some type, I imagine.

Does anyone know when the 5 yellow cards and a suspension rule is reset - ie Armstrong and Doyule both have 4 yellow cards but I'm sure that these are wiped shortly in terms of getting a suspension?

Hard to tell. It looked like it maybe a hamstring or calf minor pull, but then sudden cramp can give the same visual affect.

NHunt will be fine...it was probably just cramp...he was cooling down on the touchline and stretching out for the last 5mins after he was subbed anyway, so it couldn't have been a pull of any kind as it would have been iced straightaway..he normally does a decent cool down after he is subbed.

As already stated...he goes flat out for the first 60mins and then is shattered...no problem with that...it's good to have another athlete in the ranks and certainly helps unsettle the opposition...taking him off and bringing Long/Lita on doesn't weaken us in anyway and in fact gives the tiring opposition defence even more problems for the last moments of the game...

Out of interest, does anyone know how many of Doyle's yellow cards are for goal celebrations ?

Huntley & Palmer Next week

Nope - it's now the end of February as shown here: Section 6 on Page 5

Not sure when it changed but 5 bookings in 35 games - which would be the number of games we would have played up to and including 28/02 (barring postponements) - isn't exactly persistent foul play.

IIRC, the cut-offs used to be:

5 bookings: End of January
10 bookings: End of March
15 bookings: End of the season

Now it is:

5 bookings: End of February
10 bookings: Second Sunday in April
15 bookings End of season
