Multiball Fiasco

by Gunny Fishcake » 07 Feb 2009 20:03

Excuse the grumpiness after todays performance , but what the bloody hell is going on with our ball boys and girls ? They are a joke , throwing balls onto the pitch not able to keep the ball under control , a absolute farce , so much so the ref abandoned ithe multiball system today !! Didn't know he even had the authority to do that !

Hardly a fiasco, for the second one the ball hit a board and came back on. One mistake is human, even two isn't a "fiasco", nothing like it.

Did he have the authority to abandon the game as well?

Wouldnt have happened in my day!!

We need to use it like away teams do. Quick to our players when we're chasing the game, slow to theirs when they are.

That's cheating and just as likely to get pulled.

Anyway, the ref did us a favour stopping the multiball. We'd have only looked stupid rushing to get the ball and then consistently give it to the oppo.

Wasn't exactly a fiasco. Over zealous fans and the advertising boards were to blame. Even coppell said the opposing manager hassled the 4th official to get it pulled.

The boards make it very hard for the kids, cos they have to continually jump over them

Plenty of teams do it. Just another advantage of being at home.

That would be the appalling first touch that gave their keeper his biggest test of the afternoon?

The Leroy haters really are having to struggle to keep their campaign going and, as a consequence, are making themselves look even more foolish than before!!

Then they need to get bigger kids or smaller boards!!

It's a beautiful thing when you get fans moaning about the speed and distribution quality of their own ball boys

Obviously noone noticed that the ref actually stopped the multiball after Ross Wallace complianed that he didn't get a ball quickly when they were attacking and he wanted to take a quick throw in.

To be honest he had every right to complain as there was ball boy with a ball about 10 yards away but they didn't pass the ball to him.

Coppell gave the impression in his interview that the Preston bench had been bitching to the 4th official all game about the multiball system.

Although the ball boy that Wallace was having a go at didn't actually have a ball to give to Wallace

The FA should look at banning the multi ball system from the game this would then settle any debate on the subject.

At the same time they can look at changing some other rules of the game to improve the time the ball is in play:

Goalkeepers to take the goal kick from the side the ball went out.
Throw-ins to be taken by the player nearest to where the ball went out.

Playing on if the ball bounces back into play off of the crowd or the advertising hoardings...well ok perhaps not.
