SC hasn't a clue.

by Forest Gump » 14 Apr 2009 14:47

He is obviously an intelligent bloke. Most pundits rate him as a very canny / astute / clever manager.
So why then, for the third season during his reign at the Club have we seen a spectacular collapse in form during the second half of the season.
And why does nothing appear to be done. The answer: Steve Coppell does not know how or why the team were playing so well - therefore he has no clue what to do about them doing so badly. He does not know how to manage
Soon after he leaves we'll find out what went wrong.

Fool.
It's the bunch of players we have.
They are either distracted by the press attention during the January transfer window, lose steam, or are just plain lazy.
I think that's why Coppell tried a more energetic side yesterday.
It worked, for 45 minutes.

You chose the right name there, Forest Gump.

Our problem would seem to point towards the higher paid players who think they're better than they are and don't want to be here anymore. How I would LOL if no-one came in for SHunt and a new manager left him out of the team. Mind you, at his salary, he'd be LOLing too I suppose.

It's plain for all to see that it is the attitude of some of the players which is letting the side down...

You only need to look at the body language on the pitch...Kebe in his deck chair lapping up the sun yesterday...the daydreamer that is Andre Bikey...Shunt need I say anymore...

No matter how hard Coppell works on things in the week, if the 11 that get picked can't be bothered there is nothing he can do about it...

The MVP I agree Coppell hasn't got a clue.

When I was manager of Reading on Football Manager I got Reading into the Champions League. That's more than Coppell has done for us.

COPPELL OUT!

if he doesnt then nor do we

cos according to everyone and his dog at some point this season, our poor form has been due to not changing things often enough due to coppells favourites/changing things too much
not playing bikey/playing bikey
not playing jem/playing jem
playing harps/not playing harps
playinmg marek/not playing marek
playing 4-4-2 away/playing 451 away
playing doyle up front/not playing doyle up front
playing kebe/not playing kebe
playing shunt/dropping shunt

i know its his job to work it out
but judging from just that small samples of "the reasons we are shit(top 6 shit, not really really shit)
its not a matter of individual players, or formations but more a problem with the teams mentaility, and generally fragile nature

Remind me, who is responsible for the players we have, having been here nearly 6 years?

How many managers have you seen make a substitution in the first half for tactical reason rather than circumstances forced eg sending off or injury?

The last time that I can remember such a change was against Forest when Pards was in charge. For the first 20 minutes we chased shadows then Pards changed the set up. Fact is, very few managers will actually do anything aout it until half time at the earliest as it will be an open admission to all and sundry that he oxf*rd.

Just try and get used to this being live football and not Championship Manager.

Absolutely

Steve Coppell's been here for 5 years and whilst nearly every player on our books has been signed by him and, even when every team He picks from HIS squad plays like it belongs on Prospect Park, none of this is Steve Coppell's fault because we think Steve is great and love his parking space just as much.

Remind us who doesn't spend the budget allocated to him to invest in the squad.

Madejski - you know, the guy who Coppell's come out in the media and said is the best chairman he's ever worked under and has backed him for every player he's wanted?

Someone please tell me what state the club would be in if we had the likes of Barry Fry and Peter Ridsdale in charge of the club? Luton Down anyone?

I wouldn't have a clue either who to pick from the bunch of over hyped and over paid bunch of players we have at the mo! Hardly any of them are worthy of a first team place!

We had enough of a scare of losing the club back in the 1980s. I do not want to go through that again in my lifetime. Be careful what you wish for.
