How are our oldboys getting on thread

by Forever Reading » 01 Oct 2009 15:29

We have had a mass clear out over the last year or so, I am interested to see how they are getting on now and I couldnt find a consolidated thread. Did we cash in at the right time and make good money on players that have flopped at their new clubs or have some players done really well since leaving.

I'll start things of with

Leroy Lita coming back with Boro on Sat, was it a mistake to let him go? Well despite giving it the big un when signing for Middlesboro that he was happy to leave Reading as he wasnt getting enough chances etc, he only seems to be coming on every now and again as a sub and I think he has only scored 1 goal.

Anyone else up to date with the rest of our old boys particularly how our ex players are doing in the Premier League.

Bikey has given away a penalty...predictably.

S Hunt has scored and had assists, but his new club is heading South fast.

Doyle has scored...and had a penalty turned down (wrongly).

Of the older old boys, Kitson is starting and scoring.

Sonko at fault for almost every Liverpool goal on Saturday.

Stephen Hunt has scored two (fortuitous) goals so far and Hull fans are warming to him, but they remain in the relegation zone.

Bikey gave away a penalty and cost Burnley another goal through a poor clearance.

Doyle playing well for Wolves as expected - fair play to him.

Sheffield United's form has taken a nosedive since Harper signed...Little came on the other night and got two assists.

Kitson having a better season for Stoke, signs that he's finally settled in.

Rosenior having an absolute mare for Ipswich.

Hahnemann barely getting a game for Wolves and played atrociously against United in the cup last week.

Murty looked good before he was unfortunate to pick up an injury which will keep him out for ages.

Harding doing alright in League 1.

Duberry at fault for many a goal and Wycombe fans not impressed with him at all, relegation beckons.

Bennett doing okay at Brentford.

Lita scored a good goal the other week but is hardly getting a game even after Tuncay left Boro.

Shorey looking like he may have to leave Villa after they signed Warnock and can't get a game, Sidwell doing alright.

On reflection it looks like in most cases we were right to take the money/cut the wages

Shorey apparently turned down a move to Pompey because they wouldn't guarantee him a first team place. A Villa fan that I know says this sums Nicky up - no fight, no fight at all.

My senior Hull insider says that Sonko could be the last straw for both Phil Brown and Hull's Chairman. Superman was sold to the board as every bit as good as the departed Michael Turner and they are not best pleased that the man at the top sanctioned the loan of such a dreadful player  . One more poor performance from Hull and Brown's gone, with Gordon Strachan lined up to replace him. Should be a Hunt type manager anyway.

To be fair to Sonks, any centre half would have had a new arse ripped playing against Torres last week. He was sensational.

Though the Doyler did well for Wolves against Sunderland last week. The score flattered the Mackems.

Agreed, but he still should have done a lot better positionally - the sad thing about Sonko is that ever since the injury he's lost that extra bit of pace/strength which made him such a great player. Every time I've seen him play since he's tried to over-compensate for that by trying to second guess opponents too early and dive in, which is where he's been found out.

The referee definitely favoured Sunderland on Sunday and Wolves barely deserved to lose the game, let alone by 3 goals conceding 5. In fairness I think I could be paying that tenner to charity from the bet I had with the Wolves fan on here - they're looking good to stay up but time will tell.

I watched that game, don't remember him doing much wrong TBF. Made a couple of neat saves. Kicking was the same as ever though.

Rosenior made one for Ipswich at Sheffield Utd the other day. Glen then made one in almost identical fashion for Henderson.

Doyle's missed a few games through injury but scored against Fulham and Sunderland and looked lively when he came on against Man Utd.

Sonko's been shit forever.

Looks like with the exception of Doyle - who has been almost certainly our best player over the last few years - the club has made pretty much 100% correct decisions in letting all these go.

spot on rayalee

its amazing that such a poor manager managed to get such great performances out of such a bunch or arse for such a long period
and even more amazing that such a poor manager somehow managed to drag in tens of millions of pounds while selling these players(barring sidders) at exactly the right time

Once again you make yourself look silly...

I already mentioned Sonko was a much better player before his injury - he certainly wouldn't be playing for Hull City if he was as good as he used to be.

Hunt was a fringe player when we went up - Convey was never the same player after he got injured.

Doyle's still quality with service, same with Kitson.

Little was in his prime when we went up.

Hahnemann was in his prime when we went up.

Murty was in his prime when we went up.

Sidwell's still quality, Shorey would be fine for a lot of Premiership teams.

Lita was the third best striker in our promotion team and was hungrier back then.

He hardly had shit to choose from.
