Ball 32 this Sunday - Liverpool in FA Cup

by Compo's Hat » 24 Nov 2009 12:58

One of favourite days of on the football calender, FA Cup 3rd round draw day and there's a good chance that Oxford (home to Barrow), Swindon (away at Wrexham) and Aldershot (away at Tranmere) might be in the hat with 63 other teams we could face.

Would love a local tie but if not i'll be selfish and hope for an away tie at somewhere i haven't been before.

I presume the draw is this Sunday and not the Monday.

I nailed this last year and guessed Cardiff away viewtopic.php?f=1&t=82635

I have a sneaker for Scunthorpe away this year. Don't put any money on it.

ITV.com says straight after the Kettering v Leeds FA Cup game - so around the 15:45 mark.

Slap bang between the two 'Super Sunday' games on Sky, good darts!

We'll get another team in the same league as, and lose to them like we usually do.

If the club took the competition seriously, i'd be quite excited by this.

They don't.

To be honest, I can't even get excited about the third round draw any more. I expect the usual dull and uninspiring tie.

About time we were away to a lower league side who would regard us as a big fish. Can't remember the last time that happend.

New manager could bring a change in team selection for this. Am slightly more excited about the cup draw than I have been - which is admitedly not a lot as we're bound to be drawn against Plymouth as we play them the week before.

Why is the FA Cup and the Carling Cup drawn out of a hat and The Champions League and World Cup drawn out of a pot?
How does Compo know that we are Ball 32?
Was the cup draw not more fun with a tranny behind the bike sheds at school on a monday lunchtime?
How long is it since we fielded a full strength team in the FA Cup?

This year will be different to previous cup runs. The FA Cup is a competition BR is definetely taking 100% seriously (not saying Coppell didn't but it was convinient to use the fringe players where this year it will be the strongest side available). The FA Cup provided a cataylst for Watford's impressive end of season form last year rather than a distraction, and I think we're more than capable of sustaining a decent run.

Ideally we'll get one of the local sides but anything commutable from Leeds would prove just as decent for me personally.
