Rosenior return? / Right back spot to fill

by Messiah » 01 Apr 2010 23:15

On-loan Ipswich defender Liam Rosenior insists that he enjoys "living on the edge" as he prepares for an uncertain summer.

The full-back is on loan from Reading but is out of contract at the end of the season and has no deal in place to stay at Portman Road.

Rosenior told Ipswich's official website: "I'm not sure where my future will be but I am not worried about it.

"I have played for two great clubs in Ipswich and Reading and we will see what happens in the summer.

"Some 18 months ago I expected, and in some ways wanted to be, in this position at this stage as living on the edge can bring the best out in you."

Could a return be on the cards for Liam? On loan at Ipswich, out of contract with us this summer, and no deal on the table at Portman Road. McDermott may have a different opinion to that of Brendan Rodgers (if wages wouldn't be a problem, of course), I wonder if there could be a way back for Rosenior.

If we didn't get Griffin in the summer, we have a right back spot to fill.

Cummings was captain of the reserves today when Pearce and Karacan were both playing.

A sign that he isn't out of the picture?

Cummings wasn't brought here on a total whim...............

Shit. The same as he has always been. Keane just takes a long time to work these things out. I would rather have Bodin back than Rosenior.

Bodin was a left back Ian. HTH.

Anyone who thinks that Cummings is the future needs to have a long look in a mirror. Rosey is a million times better than Short Comings could ever dream of being. However, Andy Griffin has shown us all over the past 3 months what being a right back is all about.

He is the worst defender I have ever seen play for us.

then why did our scout (now manager) insist on acquiring him?

and if he is the "worst"...then may I suggest, that you haven't seen enough of the Reading of old

Who is to say that BR, having known SC from his Chelski reserves days, took the unilateral decision to sign him regardless?

And I can go back to 1971. He really is the worst defender I have seen.

I only go back to '73....I bow to your seniority

Is Cummings a spent force...or is he one in development?

MaccyD must've seen something
I would like to see something, as I cannot see either of our loanees staying

I have seen worse (bearing in mind the level we are at now, compared to the 1970's)

My critical eye gave Cummings a 7/10 once

Rosenior's problem was that he kept a legend out of the team. Hell hath no fury than a football fan when his favourite right back can't get a game.

Swales, Bodin, Stuart Gray, to name but three who deserve that honour ahead of Shaun Cummings.

I'd love to see an entire team of players dubbed "appalling", "pathetic", "non-fotballer", "worse than Bodin", etc. wipe the floor with the Championship next season. Step up Shaun Cummings - the next Kebe.

Cummings had an ok first few games then got torn apart by Jerome Thomas, a former Premier League winger and a man who pretty much had the better of Griff (though not quite to the same extent) last weekend.

Cummings was by no means the finished product and was right to get some stick for some displays. But to write off a 20 year old who has been through the Chelsea system and then played for a decent league 1 side (MK Dons) and West Brom before us would be foolish IMO.

Cummings captained the reserves to a 7-0 win yesterday and got praise from the Reading management for his approach to the game and the way he's been working hard despite some of the, shall we say, less than impressive remarks being made in some quarters.

He may make it, he may not, but come the start of next season he'll be our only specialist right back as things currently stand.

Nah, sorry mate, that accolade belongs to Martin James. I go back to '71 too.

Rosenior's problem is that he is a legend in his own mind. If he was half as good as he talks the game, he'd be at a top six club.
Fulham sussed him out, we sussed him, and now so have Ipswich.
I'd rather get Dennis M Butler back in there...
