Team for Scunthorpe (H)

by NR_Royal » 05 Aug 2010 17:05

--------------------------Fed--------------------------

-----Griffin-------Mills--------Pearce-----Williams-----

---Antonio---Howard----Sig----Tabb----McAnuff---

-------------------------Long---------------------------

Ideally I'd like to see Hunt for Long, but it's not going to happen. Also, I'd rather see Andersen in goal, but Fedders will do for now.

Edit: Forgot about Ingi.

If Kebe's injured I expect us to go 4-4-2 with The Sig wide and Long and Church up front. If not it will be as you said but with Church ahead of Long

No way if Ivar going to be fit so Pearce in at the back as well

Hunt will need a few games to get back in the swing of things. I expect him to start on Wednesday

Agree if Kebe injured. But Kelly and Hunt are also unlikely to figure with injury so most likely we will see Taylor and Rasiak on the bench instead.

If Kebe's injured I'd love to see Antonio, but wouldn't mind if HRK plays.

I reckon the central midfield will be Gunnarsson and Karacan. Scunny are a big side, and have a big chap in midfiled, so Gunnar will need to look after him. They also have a playmaker so Karacan will be deployed to snap at him. Tabb and Howard would be too small to challenge the height of Scunny so they could miss out this time round.

Defence picks itself due to injury and lack of cover, (which IS going to come back and bite us later in the season).

Kebe and McAnuff will start if fit, as will the Sig, which leaves the striker. Given the size/bulk of Scunthorpe, it looks as though Long will shade it over Church, which is a shame given their pre-season goal scoring record.

Bench is going to be light on defenders! Wouldnlt be surprised if Jake Taylor gets a spot due to his versatility. Ditto Antonio given Kebe's possible injury issue. Rest will be the usual suspects - Tabb, Howard, Church, Rasiak if fit and Hamer. HRK may shade it over Antonio - especially if the rumoured Saints 500k bid comes to anything tomorrow.

I agree with that, but the back four for this season genuinely concerns me when we are talking about a choice between Ingi or the glacially-slow, awful Pearce. BMcD must strengthen before the windows closes.

Feds
Griffin, Mills, Pearce, Williams
Kebe, Tabb, Sig, Howard, Mcanuff
Church

If kebe is unfit i think we will change to 442. with long up front with church and sig out on the wing

I'd go for

McCarthy

Williams
Pearce
Mills
Griffin

McAnuff
Karacan
Sigurdsson
Tabb
Kebe/Antonio if he's not fit

Church

It'll be Federici obviously though with Howard for Karacan.

Ideally, I would like to see Church given a good run in the team this season.

Decent teams, but we do need to buy a couple of centre backs, and perhaps a forward.

Did you not watch Tabb last season? He has a spring to his jump and lack of fear which ends in him suprisingly winning a lot of headers for a small chap

I think it'll be

Federici

Williams
Pearce
Mills
Griffin

McAnuff
Tabb
Howard
Sigurdsson
Kebe / HRK

Church

Would rather see Karacan play instead of Howard though

Not sure why we're suddenly going to start playing a midfield diamond formation with two up front???? Why would you think that??

Actually, I'd have a 3 man midfield with Sig in front of them, slightly behind the front 2. That's how I'D play it. HTH.
