The 17 Bus Disagree, the stadium was designed for that to be used as an exit from the East, it was designed by experts in traffic flow and the like, and only since the safety gate has it been such a problem, originally the safety gate was for games where there was a high risk of clashes between fans, ps the away fans should have the South west section, and the club should have made that the bigger section., meaning that the home fans could have left past the away section much easier.

I have to disagree with your disagreement. The experts in traffic flow and the like who designed the stadium designed the pedestrian exit route from the East Stand to the A33 with these :
Take away that as a means of exit and all the people who would have gone down the steps would now go down Hurst Way - if allowed - but because there's no width restriction like that provided by the steps they go down in one single mass of people.

well perhaps the club could spend a few quid, and put in barriers, and widen the pathway a little.

Maybe they could put the steps back, but widen them to about 5 times the size...

starliaison Having spoken to the Tango with you I was trying to keep a special watch on the away coaches when I was in the control room for the Wolves game but I will be honest that there was so much happening that I missed the release command for the coaches. It certainly gave me an insight on how difficult it is to control some of the traffic - like taxis waiting on the approach roads and so leaving with the pedestrians and especially coping with Police vans and where they park.

I would say that there are several club personnel who are there watching over the shoulders of those in control and it is obvious that the subject of safety and controlling the traffic is very important even if they have not yet got it completely right. As he says STAR CaAMPAIGNS and I need to get together to compare our experiences and maybe repeat them if there is a chance of coming up with some constructive suggestions that do not end up shifting the problem from one area to another.

Do the club acknowledge that there is a problem? If so, do they have a plan to resolve it?

Precisely what should have been done rather than removing them!

For the record anyone else notice that steps have been put in place on the opposite far side of the car park to the Megastore and hotel entrance, it now isn't a safari trek to get down the hill and into Green Park.

Wonder if that route will also be removed when the train station eventually puts in an appearance.

that part of the car park will be removed from the stairs across when the station gets put in, becuase of health and saftey and the volume of people using the train.

I tried to walk on the pavement today with my son, but the steward stopped me and told me to walk in the road. When I've walked in the road previously, I'm yelled at by the steward leading the coaches to get out of the road and onto the pavement.

Me again STAR people.

I'm becoming increasingly annoyed at the lacksadaisical attitude by stewards one minute and their over officiousness the next. Last week, as I said, I was PREVENTED from walking on the pavement down the slope. This week, not a steward there to stop me walking on the pavement, BUT an inordinate amount of away fans not getting on their coaches and goading the home fans as we walked past. This ended in an altercation with a young boy, whose dad and sister/girlfriend appeared to be trying to stop. Then two policeman came along and I don't know what happened after that. IF some of the away coaches are allowed to park on the slope going down towards the roundabout, would it be possible that stewards/police are there to ensure that the fans get straight on their respective coaches and are not allowed to goad us fans who have been forced to walk around the ground in order to get back to the beginning and who meet with surly middle aged tossers when we do? Cheers then.

Yes it was. He did such a good job of hiding, that I failed to see him, even though I was looking for him!

Yes, it was me. I now feel I have a pretty good understanding of the traffic dynamics and what the stewards' decision processes are regarding traffic down Hurst Way.

Coupled with we've what we've seen in our post-match sessions in the control room we're starting to get a full understanding of the issues.

Cannot all cars / taxis be prevented from entering / leaving at the end of the game. Opposite the main carpark (Hoops Way i think) there are usually a number of Taxis sat and waiting for pre arranged customers. These then are going round the rondabout and are stopped from leaving (naturally). The same applies to cars trying to make an easier exit from the ground. The issue being they cause fruther congestion in an already crowded area where people are leaving for the buses.

Why can't these taxis be given a taxi rank which is more appropriately sited. Also why cannot cars parked opposite the T/O be prevented from leaving the carpark.

It was good to read the comments in todays match programme. Going forward with safety to the pedestrians what future measures are being proposed. How are the pedestrians going to safely be segregated away from buses pulling away from the ground. With the new green park developments going on it there a proposal for a pedestrian access bridge from Green Park to the Stadium. This would alleviate the bottle neck of buses v pedestrians.
